One doctor said she thought it was something viral, but didn't know for sure. I am broke out with bumps as well, but mine look different than my son's. We haven't changed detergants or anything, everything in our house is the same. No pets!! I even decided today to wash everything in hot water...I'm just doing whatever to try to figure it out. Took my son back to the doctor yesterday, 5 more doctors looked at him, and everyone is clueless.
I am ready to change doctors, b/c this is crazy. There has GOT to be ONE doctor that knows what's wrong with my son. I am worried that my older son, will end up breaking out as well. Please someone give me some suggestions!!!! I am not breastfeeding, just in case ya wondering. My bumps itch like crazy, my son doesn't seem to be in pain. They start out small & flat, then become big & raised. My bumps are mostly on one arm, and are small...I have a few bumps here & there as well. My son's bumps are mostly on his stomach. Please help!!

hi, i e-mailed you earlier about Erythema toxicum. I was looking further into this and found that another possibility could be Rocky Mountain spotted fever take a look at this picture http://www.visualsunlimited.com/browse/vu205/vu205230.html
it usually starts on the hands and legs.
it could also be measles. did he recently have his shots? My husband thinks hat it is viral and advices to go to a dermatologist ASAP. Good luck and please let me know what it turns out to be

Hmm. This one is tricky cause it could be anything. Sometimes when the bumps are on the tummy area, it means that there could be a food allergy. Did he eat any new foods? What type of formula is he drinking and has he been drinking it fine before? Although, I'm not sure how that would pass from him to you. I can't think of anything that it could be, but maybe you should get a second or even third and fourth opinion with the doctor.
Hope you figure it out and all is well with you and your son. Good luck.

Check both of your temperatures every four hours. That may give the doctors another clue to work with. Do you have a sore throat? Is the baby taking longer with his bottles than usual, or fussy during feedings? If so, it could be strep. I have kids that get a rash with strep before they have any other symptoms, and a lot of doctors don't think of it. I agree that you should wash everything in hot water. Blankets, pillowcases, bath towels. If you use a perfumed bath talc, stop using it for a while. Don't forget to check your car too- there maybe something you are both coming in contact with in your car, or outside. It could also be a reaction to a medication, but you didn't mention any. Hope this helps. I'm really thinking strep though. Some people never get any symptoms other than the rash, but still test positive on a throat culture. It's wierd.

Have you just been given some sort of a gift soap or shampoo perhaps that you're both reacting to??? That's all that I can think of because with you only having it on one arm, that would be the arm that you wash the baby with??? The baby's rash is therefore from the same source, if I'm right. I had the same sort of thing with my little boy, turned out it was the soap we were using in the bath that his sister had been given for her birthday !!!
In the meantime, to get rid of the crazy itchiness, put 1/2 a cup of vinegar into a warm bath and soak in it for 10 - 15 minutes, this will realkalize and soothe your skin. Because it is an all natural remedy, it will be totally safe to use on your little baby, just sponge him with a wash cloth, rubbing gently on the affected area. This will help get rid of the marks too.
Hope this helped just a bit !!!
PEACE

It could be scabies, thats contagious or do you have pets cause it kind of looks like flea bites. My family doesn't even have a pet but my stepdaughter was caring for an outdoor cat that was coming around the house and she brought fleas into the house. My stepdaughter and I both have an allergy to flea bites so we got bit up bad. We had no animals so we didn't know what the heck was giving us these bumps until the morning of our doctor appointment I found one on the couch and put it in a plastic bag to show the doctor and thats when we found out it was flea bites. All we had to do was bomb the house and it got rid of them. Does your rashes itch at all?

There is a great chance that they are heat bumps. My son had the same type bumps, then I figured out that I was keeping him too warm. He still gets them now from time to time and he is 10 months, usually when it is hot in our house. good luck

I couldnt get the pictures up, but i just went through something similar with my daughter. Are they hives? Anyways we found out it was caused from mold under the carpet in our bedroom. Does it get worse when hes in a certain area of your house. We figured out it was that because she would wake up in the morning and from here naps broke out really bad. We ripped up the carpet and got rid of all the mold and she hasnt had any hives since. What you are describing sounds like they are hives, i would take benedryl for yourself and ask the doctor what you could give the baby. I hope this helps and you get it figured out! You should see a dermatologist. Some times bumps don't mean a lot but other time it can be series so go to the dermatologist.

Diaper rash. Yeast infection. Or something else. I'd check with your pediatrician when you can, but in the meantime put some diaper cream on it, and keep it clean. (Change the diaper often, clean area, dry area, leave naked for a while if you can etc etc)

It could also be allergies-- ask your doctors for an allergy test for your son. If nothing turns up, then get a second, or even third opinion.
