Let say ratio 3:10:5 is ratio of value of $2, $5, $10 notes.
x = number of $2 notes
y = number of $5 notes
z = number of $10 notes

Compare $2 and $10
($2)x / ($10)z = 3/5
x = 3z ---(1)

Compare $5 and $10
($5)y / ($10)z = 10/5
y = 4z ---(2)

After taking 2/3 of number $2 and 16 of $ 5, left $240.

1/3 x ($2) + (y - 16) ($5) + z ($10) = $240
From (1) and (2)
1/3 (3z) ($2) + (4z - 16) ($5) + z ($10) = $240
2z + 20z - 80 + 10z = 240
z = 10
Value of $10 saved = 10 ($10) = $100
