i found out that my ex husband is selling his house and my name is still on the papers, we have been divorced for 11yrs, so when he sells, does he have to give me a percentage of the money?

for any of you who think that i'm in it for the money i'm not i did not know my name was still on the papers, and he borrowed money from my parents, i just want to pay them back,

What was decided in the divorce? Was that determined? If so, you get what was agreed upon. If not, and your name is still on the property title, you get 50%...Wow, sucks to be him! Divorced 11 yrs and you get to stick it to him!! Hopefully this is that revenge that you get to serve cold! You should be smiling right now!

That "statute of limitations" guy doesn't know what he is talking about. If your name is on the title, your a owner. The sale hasn't taken place yet... there is nothing for the statute to limit! Get a lawyer, stick it to him! If your really mean, when it is over, send him a Tee shirt that reads: "I'm still my ex-wife's Lil b*tch... 11 years and counting"

If your name is on the papers then you should be entitled to some of the money if you helped make some of the payments in the past before you were divorced. However, you may want to talk to you lawyer because if it is in the divorce papers that he gets the house even if your name is on the papers that may not mean anything. He may have been awarded the house as part of the divorce settlement. Good luck to you.

you need to get a lawyer, because technically, if you both owned the house, you are entitled to a percentage of the equity. But it depends on what state you live in. Check your state divorce laws and find out if there is a limitation on time after a divorce. Because there may have been some sort of clause in your divorce settlement papers where you may have signed off your rights to the house. Its always good to check first, get a free consultation with a lawyer.

This would have been included in the divorce settlement. There is no way that joint property is over looked, not something as big as a house. If your parents loaned him money, that's between him and them. You have been divorced for 11 years and call it 'his' house, you know you are not entitled.

Yes, technically, however the house was probably taken into account in the divorce settlement and you were probably excluded as an owner.

call your lawyer that did your end of the divorce work. but i would say after 11 years, your probably not entilted to anything cuz any equity that you put into the house, you should have gotten when you got divorced., but definatly call a lawyer cuz they would know better.

i suppose it depends on the terms in your divorce settlement. if he got the house, i don't think you would get any of the money. might want to contact your lawyer about it.

of course, your name still on the papers, regardless you guys have been divorce for more than 10 yrs or 20 yrs, you still have to get a percentage of the money.

Can we assume he was awarded the house during the divorce? If so, no, you don't get a penny.
