The electricity costs of a business decreased from $15,000 one year to $9,000 the next. To the nearest whole percent, what was the rate of decrease?

Well, I did the calculation in my head but since you cannot see into my head, here is the answer:

15000 - 9000 = 6000

6000 /15000 = 6/15 = 2/5 = 0.4

As a percntage, it will be 0.4 X 100 = 40 per cent
