My cousin gave me a fish tank that they don't use anymore for my new fish, but I don't know how to put it together. Here are some pics of all the pieces.

Ok, the first picture is From the top: Your tank of course, left next is your main filter. This will hang on the back of your tank with the spout facing into the tank. To the right of that is the intake. There should be a slot or indentation (not on the spout side) where this will connect (short end in the filter). Next to that is an extension piece which just connects to the black U pipe you just inserted into the filter. The piece next to that fits on the end. It is the small black piece with slots cut into it. This is to prevent fish and large particles from getting sucked up. To the right of that is the cover. The gray box is an air pump. Next to that the clear tube is one of the towers for the under gravel filter next dido next to that are the top pieces of the undergravel filter (the ones with the small holes. The one with the rectangle hole you don’t need. and the black plates are the undergravel filter. The black plates go in the bottom of the tank. You will want the holes towards the back side of the tank and flat on the bottom. Take your clear tubes and insert them into the holes and put the caps on them…..there should be a small hole in the top of the cap. (honestly you really don’t need this. If you want to hook it up that is cool. I run one with an additional filter on one of my tanks) There is something missing here though. Air line hose and two pieces of small ridged plastic tubing the length of the towers. You will need to insert these plastic tubing items into the gravel tubes and connect them with tygon tubing. Then to the air pump. Honestly, you don’t need the undergravel filter.

hope this helps.

I would ditch the undergravel filter, just because they require alot more maintenance. So the clear tubes and the black plates would go if I were you. If you want to use them, stick the narrow tubes into the tubes with the base on the bottom, and stick them through the holes on the black plates. Set those in the tank and cover with gravel. Get a bigger air pump because that one is way to small. Actually a pair of powerheads will work better.

Take the black tubes and assemble them, there is only one way they will all fit together, then stick them in the right side of the black hang-on filter, you will see where it fits in. Then just take the unit and hang it on the back of the tank, with the tube in the water. You will have to go to the store and get cartridges for the filter. That looks like a whisper 10. Any fish store should have cartridges for them.

Something like this would be very difficult to explain in writing. I don't mean to be rude, but, if it belonged to your cousin, can't you ask your cousin to help you?
