i am doing special olympics and i have trouble with freethrow for basket ball. can,t get the ball in

Since your body is bilateral - meaning that, if you were cut down the middle, you two halves almost exactly alike, and your vision is stereoscopic - which allows you to see in 3-D, you should put the rim down the middle of your body. Put your legs under your shoulders - balanced of course- and BOTH your feet just behind the line. This means you don't have to be exactly perfect and allows you to use the strength in your legs evenly. Get in position prior to the referee handing you the ball - you'll have 10 seconds to shoot after he does. Bounce the ball as many times as you need to get a "feel" for it. Before you shoot, take a deep breath through your nose and let it out through your mouth. (In karate, this is known as "centering".) Flex your knees as you shoot - rising on the balls of your feet. The motion you will use is your regular shooting motion - arms extended over your head; ball balanced on the fingertips of your shooting hand; arms at full extension while releasing the ball; and a follow-through (called "putting your hands in the basket"). You can actually visualize the proper method of shooting free-throws in your mind as a form of "practice".

A big factor to free throws is mucsle memory. I was watching the Wisconsin vs. Michigan State game and the announcer said that muscle memory helps you helps immensly. If you make a shot, remember how hard you threw the ball.
Practice on giving the shot a lot of backwards roll. For some reason, this will give it the 'shooters touch'. It gives it a better chance of going in.
One more thing. Practice on where you put your foot. If you shoot with your right hand, line your right foot up with the basket. If you shoot with your left hand, line your left foot up with the basket.

This may not work for you but I noticed that mine were always on target but short. Always dead center, front of the rim and out with the occasional lucky one that would bounce up off of the rim and drop in. My game was goofy to the point where I could be 3-4 from 3 point land and be 3-12 from the stripe in the same game.

So I decided that my stroke was cool and changed my stance. On the upstroke right before I released the ball, I'd elevate somewhat off of the heels of my feet and keep my toes completely still, kind of like shooting tip-toe and now I cannot miss...most of the time. Would be nice to shoot 100% but I hovered around 92%.

It's cliche to say it, but repetition is the most important fundamental of any sport. Repetition is everything and you just have to find a stance and stroke that you are the most comfortable with and keep repeating it and eventually they will all drop for you.

Practice, practice, practice. Concentration of the front of the rim. Square your body to the basket and toe the line with both feet. Your body is bi-lateral, but you may have to move your non-dominant foot back until you achieve your maximum power dependent upon your physical strength. Try to keep your body as erect as possible for your strength. Try not to bend at the knee, extending your arms as much as your strength allows, and firstly let your wrist do the work, keeping your arms extended in follow through. The better your backspin and arch, the softer your shot. Do not let your feet leave the floor. Once you find a rhythm, remember it, and practice, practice, practice

As a life-long basketball analyst and fan, you will dramatically raise your percentage if you line your dominant foot up with the very center of the free throw line. If you are in a gymnasium, look for a small dot or tiny hole in the middle of the line. Face your foot as close to it as possible while facing the basket. Now make sure to bend your legs. Shoot with your legs not with your arms. Leg muscle memory is more defined. Finally make sure that you arch your shot. try to stick to the same routine every time too. It makes you more comfortable during a game.

aim and accuracy.. take time dont rush it..

it is also important that u bend your legs as it gives you more power. when i shoot a freethrow i have my left leg a little closer to the line, as it helps me gain more power, this technique works quite well, it also makes it harder for you to miss shoot the ball.

Do same thing every time, Use butt to get ball to rim w/ arms, dont jump. Bend down low to have enough power to reach the rim

the most important thing is relax.. hold the ball with your right (if you are right handed) then the left hand supporting the ball... u need to focus on the ring.. remember to get strength.. it would start from ur knees... strengthen ur shoulder... then arms raising the ball... then release.. follow through... i guess is what u should practise...
