Widescreen Dell 24" Monitor and 4:3 video imput from DVD player?

Hi,
Im using my Dell Widescreen 24" Computer Monitor as a tv. I have a DVD Player and am running the composite from dvd right to the Monitor. The problem i have is that if the format is 4:3 it doesnt display in 4:3 and is off in the ratio. This cuts off some of the video and reuines it for me. It also does this to a certain extent in Widescreen DVD's too. So if anyone can help greatly appreciated.

See if there is a setting in your DVD player's menu that will change the output from 4.3 to 16.9.
