I've never heard of that problem. The only thing I can think of is something to do with magnetism. These consoles have some magnetic fields in them, but I doubt they're strong enough to damage a tv, or this would be a serious and well known issue. I've had consoles on top of tv's with no trouble.
You didn't mention where the spots were. If they're all over the screen, I don't see how the xbox could've done it. If you ever put a magnet around a tv screen (and I have), it only affects the area closest to it and causes a rainbow like pattern.
Also, speakers would have nothing to do with this at all. Speakers are built into tv's for once thing. Also speakers specifically say they're magnetically shielded. They're meant to be near other electronics. For one, the center channel is supposed to go on top of or right below your screen.

Well first off how old was that TV and how much did it cost. I don't know if you noticed but most new TV's nowadays have limited protection from magnets. But if your TV is too old or to cheap to not have it, it could pose a threat. Now first check your speakers they put off an even greater magnetic field than your X-Box will make sure that they are several feet away if it still has green spots then move your X-Box away a little. Also remember that there is a chance it's just busted. Well good luck fixing the problem.

in my view, im a PS2 fan. I enjoyed many of the unique psgames, yet i in no way owned one, and it gadget itself wasn't too warm. even nevertheless, as quickly as the PS2 got here out, not in basic terms did it have a extensive library of video games to make a call from, yet new ones have been popping out. additionally, each and every thing from the unique pschange into the two properly matched with the PS2 or maybe remade and resold to be properly matched with it. real, it may not have Halo, or any of the different particularly sturdy Xbox video games, however the library for the PS2 is so extensive which you won't manage to ***** that there is not something to play. of path, i've got in basic terms ever had a PS2, so this opinion is very biased. =P

XBOxes have hard drives in them which are magnetic, so there is a possibility, but I don't think they'd do that. I would put it on a shelf below the TV to be safe.

of course not i suggest you put it on a shelf or the ground because if you put it on top of a TV, a small to large movement to it can cause it to knock down and break it
