I just found out my bunny (I inherited him 2 months ago) has very very bad, infected teeth. I love him, and don't want to put him in a bunch of pain unnecessarily just blindly following the vets advice. I'm torn between the invasive operation to remove the dead teeth, and the potential complications afterwards, and euthanizing him to save him the pain.

Has anyone had experience with rabbits with bad teeth? Have they recovered? How bad was your pets situation?

Thanks for any firsthand advice.

Well you need to make a decision as your rabbit will be in heaps of pain.
Rabbits can be given Metacam oral liquid (pain relief) a 2.6Kg rabbit gets 6 drops a day.
This could be used now to keep him comfortable or post operatively to help with the pain relief of having tooth removed.
Baytril is the antibiotic of choice for rabbits 2.6Kg rabbit can have 0.5ml oral 25mg baytril or 0.25ml injection of 50mg baytril.
