I had the same dilemma a couple of months ago when I had no idea what i wanted for my formal dress (and it was hard to get the right colour for my asian skin tone)! What i've learned from looking around is that most asians suit bold, deep colours; not pastels. If you are going for pastels; blues and pinks are pretty safe. Colours like yellow, green make us look really sallow. Also steer clear of nudes, i tried on a nude dress and it looked like i was wearing nothing!! If you're thinking of gold, get the deeper type not pale type as that has the same 'not-wearing-anything' effect ^^"
As asians our features are fairly exotic and dramatic so we can really pull off bold colours and prints. I think the best thing for you to do is shop around and get a feel of what you like and don't like. And when you are shopping around...remember to actually try the dress on, coz you never know what you might look like in it~
Bring a friend for a second opinion too~
Good luck~ And remember to have a great night

hey girl,
I am Korean, so I know exactly what you mean, but being of Asian descent isn't all that bad.... we are very fortunate that our hair is all natural and our skin is light, because bright, light colors are best for us....

How old are you??
What is your theme?

I am picturing you in a Baby blue, yet shimmery dress, maybe spaghetti strap w/ a sheer baby blue Shaw wrapped around your shoulders.... w/ white or silver strappy sandals... w/ your hair in a I DO - UP DO and a little spray of glitter to put a little shine... as for your face be natural since baby blue is a light color.... wear shimmery lip gloss not pink, maybe clear w/ a little shimmer and blue for eyeshadow w/ a little shimmer in that too.... remember the dress is baby blue, but w/ a silver shimmer to it as well.... you'll look a sea goddess....

hope this does you some good have fun!!

Go with an olive green, or something that is partly cream-ish. They are great natural colors, and would greatly compliment your skin, eyes, and hair since they are earth tones.

i think you should wear red or a hot pink and black dress because i have the same features as u and i had on a hot pink and black dress for graduation and it looked great and a red dress for the end of the yaer dance and i looked sexy and ellegant at the same time, u should look great in a knee-length fed or hot pink & black dress
