I read that SAT score is the total score of Critical Reading, Meth and Writing. On my daughter's report there are another two categories: Multiple Choice and Essay. Do colleges look at these two scores too?

Your total score is what counts for most colleges. Your GPA determines what total SAT score one needs to get into that college. You can go to college website to see their chart, what GPA matches what SAT score.

Some schools require a certain Math or a certain Verbal score.
(Ex: Must have a combined SAT score of 1000 with a Verbal score of at least 600).
They generally do not break it down farther than that.

The Multiple Choice and Essay for the writing portion combine to make your total writing score. Colleges DO look at both scores from the writing section, but often it is just to verify that your entrance essay is legitimate and not plagarized. For example, someone who received a 500 writing score, with a 3 on the essay, probably would not write an amazing entrance essay. That is really the only reason they look at the two scores from this, other than that the total score is what is really important.
