I always thought the title referred to the story of the Tower of Babel, not babble (as in stupid chatter, though IMO that's what the movie was). Saw it in the theater & the parts that weren't in English were subtitled. A friend rented it and told me her rental wasn't automatically subtitled on the non-English parts, she had to turn the subtitles on. She watched the whole thing before she figured that out. Strange that they'd release it on dvd that way.

RE:
Does the movie Babel (2006) have subtitles?
I just downloaded a torrent it doesn't have any subtitles. Is it supposed to? Or is that why the movie is called Babel? lol

You know what man, I am not really sure. But I am sure going to try to figure it out. I saw babel like 3 years ago but if I had to guess I'd say it has to to with inability to communicate. If I am correct, most of the problems in the movie had to do with situations that went beyond the character's control. Communication problems were everywhere. The old biblical story of lots of dudes building a tower called ... BABEL, and god getting pissed because he is insecure and needs lots of attention, so he takes away everyone's ability to understand each other and then every one goes away. NO more communication. Also Hubrus probably comes into play here.

Babel was the name of a tower in the Bible. Humanity was united at the time, and they built this tower to reach the heavens. They built the tower to glorify themselves, not God - God afflicted the humans on the tower, and that is when people started speaking different languages. In the movie "Babel," the main characters all speak different languages and they have all been afflicted in some way. Yet, all their troubles are in some way connected.

What language did you download it it? Because it did have subtitles for what the deaf Japenese girl was saying and for the scenes that take place in Mexico.

Babel is an ancient city.
Are you referring to the word "Babble"
It is supposed to have subtitles, but you have to choose them in the setup screen.
