Because the alien craft is hidden in Area 51 where scientists are still trying to understand the science behind the alien propulsion and weapons systems. Once they better understand all this, we will begin to make spacecraft to travel to other worlds and explore the galaxy.
The have begun to understand some things about the craft however. That understanding is where we got such things as Velcro, Teflon, etc.

All that Roswell stuff that happened back in the Cold War was most likely the US Government trying to hide any information about their aerospace technology. They did not want to tell the public because they also wanted to keep it a secret from the Soviets because they were both competing back then. There's no way a tiny flying saucer could fly through space and make it here.

because letting people think it was a UFO is better than them knowing the truth. Nothing to do with UFOs, just high tech weapons that the russians weren't supposed to know about.

i particularly do not care what the government is hiding anymore. it particularly is in simple terms going to cause them to look worse, worser and worse. on an analogous token, i don't sense entitled to 3 piecemeal data of unidentified flying merchandise's. i'll have faith them once I see them. till then, i particularly could not be fascinated concerning to the priority.

Because then there would be a lot of questions about whether the occupants are working for us as illegal aliens taking jobs away from our citizens, and why they have not been deported.
