So, I am receiving SSI for my blindness each month. I have been for a very long time. My question is: if I move from PENNSLYVANIA to VIRGINIA, will my payment amount stay the SAME???

I'm not changing who I'm living with......just the state.

Your Supplemental Security Income will stay the same from one state to the other.
It is a Federal income benefit, not a state one.

For more information contact your local Social Security Administration office.
Or call:
1-800-772-1213
Between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Hi. I checked both the SSA web site and Department of Social Services in each state. This is what I found. Good luck with your move.

An individual who is blind on SSI in Pennsylvania:

$623/mo
Automatic Medicaid
Eligibility to apply for Food Stamps

An individual who is blind on SSI in Virginia:

$623/mo
Apply for Medicaid at Department of Social Services
Eligibility to apply for Food Stamps

Yes, it is the same amount. But, you need to notify them in person about your move.

Your SSI monthly amount was determined at the time you received your disability approval. It never changes, unless there is a change in EVERYONE who receives SSI.

It should. You might want to call ssi and ask them. you don't need to tell them who you are.
