There are so many stereotypes associated with Southern accents. The stupid Hillbilly, the redneck, the Jerry Springer type guests who marry their sisters and have affairs with sheep... The Southern belle type prissy girl. I was born in Europe and I had a difficult time understanding a lot of the accents when I came to America-after a while I really didn't notice them until I saw all of the TV shows aboutthe "stupid southerners".

Some southern accents annoy me... though it is just a pet peeve. Honestly, I don't think any differently about them then I would anyone else. It's just an accent.
