Does after shave really work?? I tried using alcohol afterwards and it seems to help. I found out that after shave balm seems to make the bumps worse. Fyi: I'm hispanic. Can someone let me know what shaver, shaving cream, after shave they use?

Hello,
You don't mention your age or race, which could be of importance. Younger men often shave more often than they really need to, so will get irritation in their skin. African-American men, especially if their facial hair is tightly curled, can often get shaving bumps because most ordinary razors can't cut the whisker completely, so the hair will continue to grow under the skin, resulting in a bump. In either case, use of a gel shaving product rather than foam, soap, or dry shaving may result in fewer bumps. Also, using multi-blade razors (safety razors, not electric) will give you a closer and more effective shave than a single-blade razor. If you're African-American, you may want to consult a barber or beautician specializing in the care of people of color. Another option, and I don't mean this to be silly, would be to grow a beard, so you don't have to worry about shaving all the way to the skin, just keep it in shape by trimming the longer hair.
