Wireless internet isn't quite wireless. You connect your normal internet connection up to a thing called a "wireless router" that can send and receive data through the air to a card hooked up into your lap top or computer. You can't go too far from your modem, though, or it will cut out.
If you're looking for faster speeds, have a look and see if you have any DSL (high-speed via telephone wire) or Cable (high-speed via television cable wire) internet providers in your area. These dramatically increase your speeds.

if u are talking about home, then u need a wireless rouder (i think thats what its called- but like a box), and u can use internet in your home without any cables (perfect for laptops that can pick up wireless networks and connect). but also, you can buy a special laptop that has the slot for a wireless card (always make sure your computer/laptop is capable and compatible). then, talk to cingular, sprint, or verizon (which i prefer the most) about going wireless. i'm sure u could get better help by actually going to a circuit city, best buy, or maybe even radio shack (circuit city is best). good luck!
Except it's spelled rouTer not rouDer...stupid
And don't talk to a cell phone company (like sprint!!??), call your DSL provider, such as Comcast for example

that depends on what type of computer you have. A PC? A Laptop?
Either way, depending on what you do online, you may want to pay a bit more for DSL or Cable Internet. If you do go high speed, you will need a wireless router and wireless PC card. With a wireless router, you will want to make sure that you secure your network so your neighbors can not steal/use your bandwidth.
Trying to go wireless with a dialup connection would not be worth trying nor spending the money on!

Leave dial up, it's the slowest thing ever and not even cheaper than DSL. When you order DSL you will need to ask them for a wireless router. If you have a newer (past couple years) mac it will already have airport built in so you can be wireless ready.
