I agree with you, most would much rather have a warm, dry place to stay rather then under a bridge and most if given an oportunity would work the dog dew out of the people that scorn them. It is like the repugs, don't think they are human anymore and that is just sick.

The bigger question, have you?
I am ultra-conservative and yes I have. I drove a truck over the road most my adult life and many times I have given to them and even offered them work at a good rate for a little work and was turned down on many occasions.
Those signs that say "Will work for food", is an outright lie.
I have even offered to take them to get something to eat and was turned down...all they want is the cash!
I had a homeless man downtown L.A. I would use when I had a load going to L.A. Cold Storage. He was called Lazar.
He wanted the money for crack. I know because he was honest and told me.
To be sure he had a meal, I would buy him food with part of his pay and give the rest in cash. He really was a good man. Protected my truck when I had to go inside and worked hard.
So to sum up, most of the "homeless" are lowly scum and aren't worth giving a penny to. I have met a few honest hard workers though.
Judge not lest you be judged? You don't even know what Jesus was talking about. He meant don't judge another person's relationship with God unless you want yours judged the same way.
We make judgments all the time in every day life. We are told to judge, "don't be unequally yoked together with unbelievers", that is a judgment we are told to make.
If you are going to quote the Bible, know what it says first

Unfortunately they do believe that everyone who is down for awhile is a lazy bum. I have rarely been unemployed but when I was there was a Republican in the Whitehouse. The latest was as long as a year in 2001 and 2002. I am not lazy but the economy was down and no one was hiring. A job at mc D would not have even paid my mortgage. Fortunately we had a nest egg and managed to survive. When we were down to our last few dollars and had to go on welfare (only one week, thank God) I finally got work and so did my wife. Many people haven't been as fortunate. But apparently they are lazy in the minds of the neocons. They need to tell us what jobs they have where they have been able to do so well over the last few years that will enable them to retire on time, where they have good medical benefits, and so on that makes them think this way.
I do agree one should not judge as one will be judged.

That sounds so nice, if only it were true. How many times have you offered breakfast to a "homeless" person, only to have them shun your offer in favor of cold hard cash? Hungry people in need do not tend to shun the assistance of the good-hearted, do they?
The streets of New York are a great experience and will teach one much about life and human nature. That includes the good and the bad. The truly downtrodden and the hustlers who prey upon the good intentions and guilt of those kind enough to want to help the needy.
Homelessness, and how it is viewed by "neocons," is not as clear-cut as you suggest, nor are the ways of the world little grasshopper. Some day, you will learn more about human nature and the root causes of homelessness, poverty, and the many other ills that plague society. Neo-cons, as you call them, contribute more of their time and money to those requiring assistance than the Libs so get your head out of the clouds.
It is time to get off your high-horse.

actually I used to vollunteer at our church a number of weekends by way of the winter months. It required installation cots and places to sleep, making waiting and repair nutrition (which we offered out of our own wallet) and cleansing up afterwards, having entertainment by way of out the evening. making specific all and sundry replaced into tucked in for the evening. Then the subsequent morning making breakfast, serving and cleansing up. So i think of you should evaluate that keeping somebody heat, whether no longer interior the comparable way as you have finished. Yours is fairly attractive.

Libs fail to realize three things.
One, the question is not whether it is or isn't nice to volunteer one's own time or resources to help someone else, but whether one is entitled to just take someone ELSE'S time and resources to help someone else or for any purpose.
Two, the tax burden necessary to sustain a safety net for those who fall through the cracks widens those cracks. The dollar you take from me to funnel through a bureaucracy and give 25 cents on the dollar six months later to some guy who lost his job at the widget plant, I would have used to buy a widget, invested in the widget company or deposited in the bank where the widget company has a line of credit.
Three, the cumulative result of doing it my way - leaving that dollar, that capital, in the private sector - is that more people become financially independent of government. "Bad times" could NOT happen to all of us. The proportion of this country that is one bad event away from the dole is declining. The proportion that doesn't need any such safety net is increasing. Yes, the affluent are more affluent, but they are also more numerous.

I have. Have you? I've volunteered my time through churches and soup kitchens. You sound as narrow minded as the people you accuse. Maybe you should get out more often . Perhaps you live in a gentrified neighborhood and like to point fingers while you do nothing yourself.

It would not be the nature of a neocon to help out a homeless person. They are a part of the authoritarian parent model who believes that everyone should be held accountable for their own actions. I, being a liberal, am a part of the nurturant parent model who is caring and can empathize with others who may be less fortunate than themselves.

Never in their entire lives. They are too busy taking money out of everyones pockets for themselves and making more homeless people.
If they did it would be purely for publicity and it would be spread all over the mainstream news.. When they get back to their mansion they would scrub themselves with bleach to get the poor-germs off of them.
I'm sure they'd love to pass a 'homeless tax', where they take the shoes off the feet of the people who can't pay with money.

As a liberal I haven't spent time with a homeless person. I have donated my time and labor in organizations but I have never donated cash to organizations. Hurricane Katrina taught me a valuable lesson on donating.
