I agree with those reports. I see it happening among some of my very Republican friends. They feel betrayed for believing in a President that so badly failed them and their Party. They feel conscience striken about why we went to Iraq in the first place. As you said, they don't see a viable Republican candidate. Some of them I know intend to vote for whoever the Democratic candidate might be, some of them I suspect will be staying home on Election Day 2008. There's almost two years to go and a lot can happen, but nothing will change in Iraq with Bush at the helm. He's made it clear we are not leaving Iraq, period. The Republican Party is clearly in disarray. "Swift-boating" the Democratic candidate won't help them this time around.

I am a Conservative and I have not seen any indication of this, however I do understand that some conservatives did stay home during the last election and some voted to punish the party. Don't forget that many conservative ballot proposals did get ratified in the last election so marginal power was granted to the left. Some reports also indicate the Surge is working CNN announced it today. I do not have a candidate of choice yet, and if I am there others are also. There are Two Dark Horses that I am interested in . Newt Gingrich or Fred Thompson. Neither are in at the moment, but understand one thing for certain, Judges will be an issue and Ruth Bader Ginsberg is not feeling well and she is old.
Conservatives of every stripe want another Originalist on the bench.

I don't know any conservatives that are turning away from the Republican Party! Where the hell are they going to go? To Hillary's side. I highly doubt that. They are still going to vote Republican because regardless of whether or not they like the candidates, they have no other options. Do you really think that they would stop voting Rep and start voting Lib?????
You claim that you have gleaned this information from "some reports", yet you list no sources. I assume that this is something you bought hook line and sinker from the uber-liberal media yet if you had taken just a few seconds to contemplate this statement you would realize how ridiculous it sounds.

you have no longer asked a query. even nevertheless, as a existence-long Republican/Libertarian and evangelical fundamentalist, Glenn Beck is by skill of no skill a candidate i could desire to assist. You confuse conversing loudly and appearing to have sturdy evaluations with certainly conversing fact or making experience. The few circumstances i've got listened to Glenn Beck he has did no longer signify the certainty; instead he has performed precisely what each and every television/Radio talk instruct host does: he says what he thinks gets him a much bigger objective industry and convey exposure to him and his instruct. he's not involved in offering reasoned perspective, he's involved in turning out to be objective industry because of the fact objective industry length is what determines his paycheck.

The republican party's reputation is going to hell with George Bush's approval rating and to adapt the party is trying to become more liberal. As a result the hard core conservatives are fleeing the party out of disapproval.

It is more accurate to say BushOilCo and friends hijacked the Republican Party and ran away from the conservatives with it. No conservative worth spit would support the fiscal policy of bankrupting the nation and selling the mortgage to China.

This is what we refer in the South as BS & Balderdash! Liberals would like to dream that Conservatives would choose socialism over the Republican party. When pigs fly!!
