Depends what you like. If by romantic, you mean like soft rock, try the very popular Carla Bruni (though you may have already heard of her--she's popular enough to have been on soundtracks such as the Lake House), Keren Ann (technically French Canadian) or Coralie Clement. For something more in the toned-down once-upon-a-time new wavers, try Indochine (J'ai demandé à la lune was a softer hit a few years back). Vincent Delerm's a little quirkier, less romantic; Thomas Fersen is in the same vein but a little more romantic (Irène). April March is an American who sings convincingly in French about half the time--things you might hear in a hip café.

They're all very popular and should be pretty easy to find on mp3 sites or through file-sharing programs.

If you're interested in something a little less mainstream or a different genre, ask away as well!

Some good French artists are, in no order: Dumas (often known as Steve Dumas), Corneille, Les Trois Accords, Yelo Molo, Thomas Fersen, Les Rita Mitsoukos, & Carla Bruni.

You can download them on LimeWire or by torrents (illegally), or through the itunes store or other places mentioned on their websites (legally).

this band isn't french, but they have a fun synthpop song that is sung in the language-FREEZEPOP is the name of them, and their song is called Parlez Vous Freezepop(Which means, Do you Speak Freezepop?)

Air is another electronic band I enjoy, but they are from France yet sing in English. :(

Sorry, I wish I could think of more stuff for ya. Good luck finding the music though. ;) It's out there, finding it is the hard part.

Usually just experiment at youtube or something, copy and paste the name of the song and search for it that way.
