My husband was so sweet last night!! He came home and for my 20th birthday, he gave me a baby kitten!! He is such a beautiful little gray kitten with blue eyes!! I love him!! However, he is such a little baby and my husband got him from a litter and the lady said that he was being nursed by his mommy so i am wondering since I am breastfeeding my child, should I try to breastfeed my baby kitten? I want my kitten Puddy Tat (my husband let me name him that after the cartoon with Tweety and Sylvester...teehee!!) to be healthy and I don't know if I can feed him regular milk or food or what. I am so happy and I feel like I have two babies now! However, before I mention this to my husband I wanted to find out if you think he might get jealous of me breastfeeding the kitten or if it sounds like a good idea.

No. Kittens are allot of work. Go to your local pet supplies store or even your vet and ask for a can of KMR. Kitten Milk Replacement. Kittens need milk from their mothers. Not dairy milk. I don't know what human milk would do but I do know that kittens are very vulnerable and it could kill him. Dairy is absolutely out. Depending on how young he is, I don't know, mash up canned kitten formula in with the KMR solution. Slowly put more and more canned food in until (after five weeks) they are eating canned food. Then slowly over a few weeks, introduce them to dry food. I can't imagine why your husband would bring home a kitten that was being nursed still but he has and you have to be the kittens new mother. But breast feeding is not the right choice. Ask you vet for any advice or even email me for any questions. I have hand raised many kitten orphans and know my way around kittens. Good luck.

Do you breastfeed your husband? If you don't, I don't think he would be jealous. I don't think the kitten needs your milk if he's 6-8 weeks or older. I had a litter of 5 kittens from birth and you need to mix water and kitten chow together so it's soft and they can eat it. Then go to hard food for them. Goodluck!

So your husband brought home an unweaned kitten? Why did the lady with the litter give him an unweaned kitten?

(Okay, I just read some of your other tall tales. You're a good storyteller).

Hi again, Little Angel! You're back. Perhaps you could feed your new kitten some breast milk macaroni? Or have your co-wife Jessica chop up some more ham?

Ha, there's never been a more amusing phony than you!

human milk is for humans, cat milk is for kittens. If you want to feed your kitten, go to your local vet for advice. Kittens are lactose intolerant, so don't feed him cows milk either. Your vet will be able to supply you with the right formula and feeding implements. You will still be able to bond with him. I promise.

Many stores sell milk for kittens. Ask a vet before you make any decisions.

No I wouldn't breastfeed your new kitten. How old is it? It shouldn't be taken away from its mother until it's at least 8 wks. old at which time it can eat kitten food.

You need to talk to a vet or the shelter to see what to feed him or google it but do not give a kitten your breastmilk. This has got to be a joke?!
