The thing about calluses is , it isn't noticable. Your fingertips will
not be so sensitive after playing a while..it won't hurt anymore
ever...once you harden the fingertips. Unless you stop playing.
So keep playing....play on...and make some cool music!

its perfectly normal. in fact, I have been playing for a month now, and my fingers still hurt sometimes when I play for too long. Even my friends who have been teaching me who have been playing for years admit that they can only take so much before their fingers start to kill too. Just try to practise as much as you can a day and you'll start to see that you can play for longer and longer times.

it is normal from what i've been warned. my 5 year old son has been begging for a guitar for about a year or so and i'm getting him one for his 6th birthday, which is at the end of this month, and they warned me his fingers will get sore and i may want to take things slow so he won't give it up. so apparantly it's normal

Its normal. You fingers are not used to the constant pressure. After awhile they will callous and become tough. Then they wont hurt as much.
Keep playing!!

You will get calluses on your fingertips soon, and it wont hurt anymore.
Be proud of your calluses, wear them like a thick, knobbly, cracked badge of honor!

it's definitely normal but you should develop callouses after a couple of weeks and then you'll be fine forever as long as you're playing...
