I talked to my doc and got her approval and everything but I'm still a little concerned. I'm 9 wks pregnant and am trying out a few different prenatal vitamins. All of them constipate me like the Hoover dam and one makes me nauseaous. More than normal I mean. My doctor says the prenatals are important but not the end all of having a healthy baby. There are other things I can do other than taking prenatals. I'm just really concerned, I naturally have a calcium deficiency and my system has trouble processing folic acid properly so prenatals make the most sense, but I can't spend all day in the bathroom worrying about one end or the other. My bosses would frown on that. My doc gave me the option of taking my prenatals or not. I simply can't decide. If you were in my position (ie hugging the god-forsaken toilet when not perched on top) what would you do?

just eat healthy prenatals are not the end all be all infact the time when they provide the most help is within the 2-4 week range of being pregnant and most people don't even know they are then that is when it prevents the baby from having the birth defect they worry about i think it is spinabifida i wouldn't worry and wouldn't take them just eat really healthy and lots of greens i never took mine because i eat extremely healthy and i couldn't sleep if i took them because they put too much in my system i talked to the doctor and thats what he told me so i stopped taking them although i already had bought them so if you come down with the flu and aren;t feeling up to eating as much you could take them that day the other thing is a friend of mine was made sick by them and her doctor told her to only take half seemed to work for her

I am not sure if it's the prenatals that make you sick or morning sickness. Sounds to me like it's morning sickness. I am 14 wks pregnant myself and have the same prob as you. I've switched 5 different prenatals even tried the kids flintstone one. All of them make me feel nauseous or should i blamed the pregnancy hormones. I read what to expect when expecting and it says pregnant tends to be constipated. I've also have friends who was pregnant and said they were constipated while pregnant.
Anyways...what I am trying to say is prenatals are good for the baby. If you can try to take it. consider taking it 30 mins before you eat and see if that help. In terms of consitpation I would eat more fruits high in fiber or drink some metamucle (however you spell that) supplement to help you go poo. Hang in there. I know exactly how you feel. I have morning sickness 24 hrs a day.

When I was pregnant, I had the same problem...nauseaous...so stick to those pills, but take them at night before bed with a small glass of milk and some crackers or bread. The milk and bread will give your system something to work on and being asleep will help you ignore the upset tummy. Please take ONLY pre-natal vitamins. The Folic Acid is ESSENTIAL to a healthy pregnancy and it is VERY difficult to get a sufficient amount while your pregnant from any other source (except maybe raw liver...yuck). Good luck...it'll pass

A couple of things you may want to think about is taking the 1/2 the dose of the prenatal that keep you perched on top and then eating things that offset the problem. If they give you diarhoea eat something that helps with diarrhoea. If you take 1/2 the dose of one or the other, maybe it won't be so bad and changing your eating habits based on your reaction might help. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.

when my prenatals were making me sick my doctor told me to take 2 Flintstone vitamins per day until after my first trimester. They worked just fine and my unborn baby has been super healthy. I just started taking the regular prenatals yesterday. I am 15 weeks along.

if you eat enough good healthy foods you don't have to take prenatal vits. Take a look around to see where you can get your essentials from, you get folic acid from bread for sure.

If they make you sick taking 2 of childrens vitiams is just about the same as taking the prenatals
