So you formatted and restored and the computer still isnt as great as it was when you first got it. But you must remember fomatting does not wipe the hard drive completely. It just makes old files ready to write over, now the computer is forced to erase and re-write everything.

I would suggest using Active@killdisk to completely wipe the drive and write all zeros to the HDD surface. You will have to download the free version and use the image to burn a disk. Afterwords, restart the computer and it will automatically boot the CD. From there follow the instructions and have dinner, it will take awhile. I have done this in the past and I have sped up the computer signifigantly.

If you just formatted your hard drive, you should wait a day or two before testing your computer's performance. The CPU couldn't be the problem unless it is overheated. You can download Harddrive testing programs to see if your harddrive's performace has decreased. Reformatting your harddrive very often makes it slower. If you have a lot of files on your harddisk try defragmentation.

Good Luck!

Your BIOS settings may have been changed, check to see what your CPU clock speed is now. Right click on My Computer, then properties, you'll see the CPU type and speed.
