I had that problem one X-mas when I blew out a red candle and the wax got on my tan carpet. I used a paper grocery bag and laid it over the wax and put a med hot iron on it . the wax warms and soakes into the paper...You do this several times until it is all gone. No trace of the wax now and I still have the same carpeting!

Has it melted into the carpeting? If it just splashed and is on the surface, try scraping it off. If it's really in there, there's a trick that I know of, although I've never actually tried it. If you take a paper towel or facecloth and your iron, and put the towel over the stain, you'll be able to use the heat of the iron on top to melt the wax into the cloth. Again, I've never tried this before, and I don't know if it works, but at this point, there's really nothing else to try.

Put a brown paper bag over the wax and then iron to melt the wax back to liquid form. Use a washcloth of soapy hot water to get the liquified wax from the carpet. Repeat until all gone.

An old towel and a hot iron, put the towel on the wax and iron till it is removed from the carpet.

All the answers are good, but before you use the Iron make sure the carpet isn't nylon or 100% wool. The nylon will melt and the wool will turn into felt, try the ice first and like one answer suggested just use a warm iron and be very careful, try a bit then check and repeat.

Try placing a sheet of parchment paper over the wax and press with a warm iron...the wax should melt and be absorbed into the paper.

Hope that helps!

* Get a clean dry cloth, lay it over the wax and with a warm iron, iron the cloth. Go over it several times. Then gently pull the cloth up and the wax should come up with it. You may have to do this a couple of times depending on how much wax was spilled.

My mother in-law once split wax all over her living room carpet and she just took a t-towel and ironed it out and it seemed to work for her! All the wax just stuck to the t-towel but you must have patients and time to do it! I hope this helps.

Let it dry, put ice on it, and then use a table knife and scrap it off the carpet, ice again, and use a brush and try to get the rest up.

Then take a paper towel and place it over the remaining wax, and use a warm iron, not HOT, and fold the paper towel 4 times, and keep moving it, and changing out the paper towel.

Ice again, then scrap.

good luck.

It usually comes out, not major damage.
relax!
ice and scrap!
