i just found out how to do the electron configuration of an antomic number now i dont understand how and wat the orbital diagram means...can anyone explain it or find me a link that shows how to do it

I hope you understand that the orbitals like SPDF are just the energy levels of the electrons outside the atomic core. Each energy level can hold a certain number of electron in opposed spins.
However in the states of the atom there are no fixed orbitals its all theoritical and Heinsberg principle explains the anomaly you can have a stastistical probability of having the electron therre at that point of energy level.

It is a diagram which helps you remember the order of filling up of atomic orbitals by hunds rule.
Hunds rule: electrons fill up orbitals in increasing order of their emergy..an orbital's energy depends on the value of (n+l ) where n=principal quantum number and l= azimuthal quantum number..if (n+l ) value of any 2 orbitals are same, electron first enters the orbital with lower "n" value..hence the diagram shows the direction and order of filling up of orbitals.
