Murder is not a viable philosophy, is it now? It could be a political tool, social tool, but never a philosophical tool. Discussion/discourse is philosophy's only tool of culture-like form, according to the Arist/Plato/Socc world of thought.

The question I think you are asking is:

Hasn't terrorism been used for centuries for a minority to impose its will on the collective body politic? And, the answer is always YES. Was it successful? It has been successful on occasions when the terrorist were fanatical. Like the crusades. How is it controlled. Brutality and total extinction, none an option in todays world today.

The only way to break even today, is to get the Muslim world to declare jihad on these terrorists. That would give then no safe haven and remove their belief that they go to heaven for killing innocents.

Well, a culture is defined as: the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group. So, yes, in a way, terrorism can be considered a culture. Terrorists can be defined by their beliefs, behavior, and social structure (or sometimes lack thereof). Terrorists have traditionally been people of a fundamentalist or extreme group or religion. They all have one objective--to change the world or the behavior of the people in it through violence and fear. Terrorists also perceive their "mission" as an honorable one, well worth dying for.

yes we live in a culture of terror.

Think about your daily life and how its constantly threatened and in danger of collapse. Global warming, impending meteor strike, financial globalization, Al-Queda, bird flu, peanut butter salmonella, spinach e-coli man the list is endless. Americans need to gain some perspective on exactly how dangerous the world is.

If one grows up with it all their lives, it is.

All things are done out of fear. We have laws because we fear what would happen without them. We save money because we fear we will not have security without it. Even terrorists are utterly terrified of the world they live in and convince themselves they need to fight fire with fire.

Fear is a product of uncertainty caused by the mind's necessity to consciously grasp onto a relative truth of reality without fully comprehending its exact purpose or nature.

The only way to escape fear is by grasping onto the knowledge that knows itself and contains no impurities or uncertainties.
