oh not near enough Americans question government authority. if American citizens weren't so ready to be told what to think but instead learned from history (see Nam) and demanded answers from those we (supposedly) elect to power we wouldn't be wasting so much of ourselves in Iraq right now. America, a country born of proud rebellion, has devolved into a nation of dull eyed sheep grazing in the fields of complacency. and there's only 2 things you do with sheep ... you fleece them and slaughter them.

Questioning authority is healthy. Questioning our government, who have brought us such wonderfully silly stories as the JFK assassination fantasy, the Gulf of Tonkin attack in Vietnam, Arms for Hostages, runninng cocaine to finance a war in Nicaragua, 9/11, WMDs in Iraq, the border fence, etc. If you don't question our governments explanations you do so at your peril.

I like the Zogby article. NY is overwhelmingly Liberal and yet only 50% believe the government had foreknowledge of the attack and failed to do something. Thats not too bad when you consider the absolute hatred of this President by the left.

That would be because there is no such thing. Nobody has authority over me. I do what I want. You live once - you get one chance to do what you want. The far right is not going to tell me how or with whom to have sex and the far left is not going to tell me what or how much I can drive.

People question authority because authority needs to be questioned. The founders of the constitution understood that and this is why they gave us this right!
