Have you started her with cereal yet? That's one of the easiest first foods and what doctor's usually recommend starting with. If you want (after you make sure she isn't allergic to the cereal if you haven't started it yet, a week per food is the general recommendation) you can add the fruit to her cereal. She may just not like the particular fruit you tried to give her too. My daughter absolutely hates bananas and absolutely love squash...go figure. You could try a vegetable first since they're a little milder in taste she may just not like that real sweet fruity taste. Sweet potatoes, Squash, and Sweet peas are the main ones my daughter likes. Try a few different style spoons if she's having trouble eating it too. And just be patient since it's hard for them to learn how to chew at first and it gets spit out a lot. I had to kind of press her tongue down with the spoon to help her get the hang of where it is supposed to go also. The biggest thing is to just keep trying, she may just not be ready no matter what those wonderful time tables say that keep moms worried until they're out of college. Just like babies sit up, roll over, and walk at different times, eating can be the same way.

My baby is almost 6 months old too and he is so NOT into solids. He scrunches up his face and freaks out. My older 2 kids we chowing down jars of food at 4 months.
The person who said the baby doesn't need solids till a year old is absolutly right. If your daughter isn't ready, don't force her!
If you really want to try solids, try again in 2 weeks or so, see how it goes. Mine just finished a round of antibiotics and just getting that in his mouth was an adventure, but after a week of taking it he started to do so willingly. He needed to get used to something besides breastmilk or formula. I bet if I tried babyfood NOW he would accept it, but I decided I'm in no rush.
Besides, babyfood is MESSY and a pain, take your time!
Oh and you do NOT need to start with cereal at all, some docs even advise against cereal since it *could* be a link to diabetes and obesity later in life. The thing you MUST do however when starting food is to feed one food only for 3-4 days at a time and make sure there is no reaction before trying another. If you feed her plums and squash in the same day and she breaks out in hives, you won't know which one caused it.
Good Luck!

You baby did not really hate the fruit, she rejected it because she it’s new, the texture, the smell, the color, the way it tastes, and how you eat it. She does not know what to do with it, babies are like really old people don’t want change and are slow to it . First introductory foods should be rice cereal which you can mix with your milk or formula. Give it to her in a bottle or try spoon feeding. Then slowly try to introduce fruits. If she does not like it once don’t push it, try again tomorrow or the next day. You should introduce one new food twice a week maximum so that the baby might not get an allergic reaction and does not become overwhelmed. I feed my 4 month old homemade apple pure once a month. I eat it and give it to her in a spoon. Not much goes in, but she likes seeing that she is eating what I am eating too. It might be helpful for you to show you baby that you are eating it too. Take it slowly and don’t get frustrated. But do not feed your baby with a syringe. She can choke or come to hate food because you are forcing it down her throat. Good luck.

O, seriously. I am a graduate student in Early Childhood education and I learn abotu stuff liek this. Try rice cereal first so the fugure out the eating thin FIRST before she has to try odd flavors. DO NOT use cows mild. This isn;t good for baby;s digestion. Do NOT fed them dilutesd solids out of a bottle. Bad for digestion and teeth. Do NOT feed them oranges or citrus before the age of 1 year, as they could have a sever allergic reation to citrus (and strawberries). Take it slow. It takes a while for kids to get used to the idea of eating instead fo drinking. 6 months is fine to start if a doctor OK's it. if the kid sits up, and can move food into their mouth, then they are probably ready to eat

My son didn't like baby food either when he first started eating. Just think she's used to getting everything she needs from a convenient bottle and now she has to learn something new. Starting solids can be a battle but in 2-3 weeks it will be easy. I say just do it with a spoon and try to make it fun. If she cries she'll need to learn that she needs to eat. You can also try vegetables or a different fruit. I know my son hated fruit at that age but loved vegetables. It's either that or her health. Best of Luck!

Start her out on oat cereal or rice cereal. My kids handled oat cereal or barley cereal better, because it's not constipating. Make it very thin, mixing it with breastmilk. Let her suck it off the spoon... Also, don't make a production of it.. .just.. slip it into your regular routine.. no need to set up the high chair, etc.... the bigger deal you make of it, the bigger deal she'll think it is.
Once she's used to the new texture and taste, you can try adding a tiny bit of fruit to it, one at a time, of course... to get her used to different flavors. Once you've safely introduced her to a solid, just give her bites of it here and there... again, not making a production over the food thing. Eventually, slip her tiny bits of bread soaked in whatever you're eating.. vegetable soup, non-spicy beans, gravy... She'll love it.. and she'll feel like she's eating what you're eating...

my son always hated fruit until he was like 9 months but he like veggies i though this was weird lol but he absolutly loves peas and even now hes just about 2 and will eat peas over n e thing else also have you tried rice cereal thats what your suposed to start with first anyways its reall simple you can make with water or breastmilk/formula and she will probably be much more likely to eat this plus you can make it any consistancy you want you can start out at almost a liquid and keep getting more solid until she is comfortable with it
also at six months you can give her cherios she would love them i am sure plus it improves hand eye cordination
ps i am a breastfeeding mom and after readin some comments i want you to know that babys need some solid food my son at 4-5 months would get really upset if i didn't give him baby food cuz he got it the same time everyday and learned to expect it and if i didn;t have it out he would start to get upset please don;t starve your child the health organizations in usa and canada say to feed food at 6 months then do it

Try different types of baby foods. I have yet to see a baby hate banana baby food. Try that. My son loved sweet potatoes, that was the first thing i gave him when i started him on baby food and he was 4 months old.
Go to http://www.gerber.com and click on what your baby should be eating at 6 months. It will give you feeding tips.
You should try those bottles just made for putting baby food in that has a nipple. That is what i used alot with my son. It was sometimes easier to feed him through that type of bottle of baby food than to spoon feed him.
Just take your time with your child, he will soon get use to it.
Good luck

it can take a baby up to 10 times of trying something before they actually like it. so keep offering it to her but dont force her to eat anything. DO NOT use a syringe, that is absolutely crazy, how would you like it if someone sat there, pinned you down and fed you something nasty with a syringe. it will make her hate eating solids. she is only 6 months so it is okay if it takes a while to get her on solids. just keep offering it to her, it will take a while for her to get used to the wierd texture and taste.

Start with rice cereal first. It has a very plain taste and you can add her milk to it to make it very runny. It takes time for some babies to get used to solid food.
Just give her a little, little bit a couple times a day to start.
Fruit has a much stronger flavor and that is why she may not like it.
