I want to be a waitress but I don't know what a decent pay is. Does anyone know?

Anything more than minimum wage.

Waitresses can make a lot of money in tips, but their hourly pay is most of the time minimum wage.

Depending on the state what the server makes per hour can vary greatly. In New York State, servers make 4.60 an hour plus tips. Tips are where all of your money will come from. On average my pay checks are about 50-60 dollars, and I will probably make 300-400 in tips a week, working around 25 hours. There are nights when it is awful and you get awful tips. Being a server can be good, you just need to be friendly, and be able to B.S. to a lot of tables to get that money. It really all depends on what shifts you work, how busy the restaurant is, what type of restaurant, etc.
