why are there large/overweight male actors, but no large/overweight female actors?

I was just thinking a real life version of the little mermaid should be created (giving the illusion of being underwater), and I was trying to think of actors that could play different characters. I was trying to think of someone large and/or overweight to play Ursula, when I realized that there ARE no large/overweight female actors, at least none that I can think of. There are large male actors like Terry Crews, Mighty Rasta, e.t.c., but no large females. Why is this? Why are there no large/overweight female actors? You can't tell me that there are not some movie roles that would require the aid of large female actors, i.e. the one I have mentioned above. This is just yet another example of hollywood's bias towards thin actresses and its perpetual outcast of anyone who does not look perfect, regardless of how they act. I really think it is a shame that film producers are missing out on so much simply because they refuse to consider certain people.

I am not overweight, but I have seen a lot of people who are and they have some of the most positive attitudes I have ever witnessed.

There are. However, they are not leading ladies very often. Society in general has affected arts and entertainment negatively in that regard. Looking good is more importantant than performing good. The level of acting, musicianship, comedy, etc has really dropped off in the last 15 yrs or so.

People these days prefer the flower over the fruit.

Companies are "manufacturing" cookie cutter stars that are made for crossover so they can get more dollars with less talent. Thus, making them disposable and giving the negotiating leverage to the companies.

The performers are to blame as much as the companies. People will disregard integrity, act like fools, shame themselves, or sell out to be famous.

Frankly, I am not sure if I would want to be famous. Rich, yes. Famous, no.

Men get more parts when they are old,not so for women.
Most women have to be bone thin ,23 and pretend she likes old ,fat, men.Its so gross to see a young girl with an old man.But then you know its all about the money.How many women would have ever dated Mick Jaguar if he wasn't rich?
Look at Paris Hilton,that girl is just nasty.I can't believe any one would look at her twice if she had no money.

Because this media and society doesn't allow for women to be beautiful and big, look at Italy they have big beautiful men and women, that is changing though with the incorporation of American Ideals on other countries, Germans and Russians used to be big too, again that is changing. Big guys are seen as teddy bearish while big women are seen as ugly and fat which of course is not true but that is what this media would like us to believe.

Because hollywood is run by deeply male chauvanist men (many of whom are closet homosexuals and/or pedophiles) who like to have the actresses in their films look like popsickle sticks. So it's rare to see a real woman with a grown woman's body in their motion pictures or TV series. It's a damned shame - because millions of American women starve themselves to look like those anorexic actresses!!!
