Those pills were taking of the market, but my family have an old tradition but every person that I know it has work give it a try:
Here we go:
* Before you go to bed soak a cloth diaper (really drench it) with
your own breast milk and put it outside in the patio hanging
from a cloth line, a tree or even your fence
go to bed and when you wake up in the morning you won't
be lactating anymore
Honestly I don't know how it works or how to explain it but
IT REALLY WORKS!!!

Medication has been prescribed in the past but the side effects were harmful and far worse than the pain of engorgement. Use cold cabbage leaves in your bra or ice/frozen vegetable packs, and plenty of ibuprofen.

Don't use heat, that will only increase inflammation and possibly stimulate let-down, which will increase milk production.

Many people have the idea that decreasing your fluid intake will decrease milk production. Not so. Your body will make milk first and foremost, as that's a natural response to birth and survival of the offspring. You will only dehydrate your tissues.

Better yet (if you haven't given it a go yet) breastfeed! If you're just finishing up with that, then congrats on the gift you've given your baby and yourself.

I am so sorry to hear about the death of your child (or I'm assuming that would be why you would need to stop the breast milk supply). Putting cold, rinsed cabbage leaves in your bra will help the engorgement and slow down milk production. I'm sure your doctor can help you through this difficult time as well. God bless!

They don't give out the pills anymore. Use cold cabbage leaves and the pads that go into your bra to control leakage. It's going to take some time, I stopped breast feeding when my daughter was 3 months, and I still produced milk for like another month.

Pretty much anything cold will help with the engorgement. One of the more comfortable things to do is to pump just enough to relieve the pressure, but don't do too much or your body will make more to replace. Just do enough to where it doesn't hurt anymore. You can either hand express or your local health department or your doctor may be able to get you a manual pump since it's just short term.
And leave her alone, she didn't say she just had a baby she could be stopping and has been feeding for 8 months now. Some moms are unable to breastfeed too. So far I've made it to 6 months and still going strong, but I wanted to and was able to. (Sorry just had to vent, I was unable to go past 2 months with my first daughter and hated getting criticized)

I don't think you can get pills anymore, but use warm washcloths or a heating pad to help with the pain. It generally only takes a few days before you feel better. Take advil for inflammation, if you can. Good Luck!

if you want to stop producing milk..decrease your daily fluids..i am not saying dehydrate yourself but decrease your normal intake and this will dry up your milk. do not drink beer...the yeast in the beer helps you produce milk. drink less water and soon you'll be dry as a bone!

When I was born, my mother was administered an injection by her doctor. I don't know anymore than that.

I've heard that cabbage/lettuce leaves work.

Were pulled off the market because they were dangerous.

Suck it up, you should be using the milk anyway.
