mine just broke down and I heard of other people's 360s are breaking down too.

Mine is working great. I have heard of the most popular reasons for failures though...
The big problem is that they run so hot, and they need proper ventilation or they overheat and stop running. All you have to do is install an Intercooler (from Nyko) or put it somewhere where it has plenty of airspace around it.
Another thing that I have heard is that the cards inside get unseated, and dropping your 360 about 2 inches to the ground will actually reseat them. Of course, you would want to do this when it is unplugged and turned off.
