Hi. I'm interested in working at Chili's as a waitress. I was just wondering what's the average amount of money a waitress earns per night/ per week working full time? How much working part time?
Is it hard to waitress?
I was also wondering if they hire often? Any pointers on how to get the job would be appreciated.
Thanks a bunch in advance.

I worked at a restaurant called Tripps and its similar to Chilis. I earned $2.13 an hour plus tips no matter if I was part-time or full-time. Thats the same pay for both ways I'm almost sure. Chilis is a popular restaurant so on a night I believe you would average about a $100 a night on weekends depending how the business is. Dont expect that all the time though. Its really not that hard to be a waiter/waitress, you just have to be people friendly and you can never get angry at the guests no matter what. Pointers, I would say when you go for an interview, to say your a great people person, you get along with anyone and your a great worker. They love to here that.

Ok I don't know what state you people are from but I have never heard of waiters/waitresses making less than minimum wage which is $9/ hour in CA plus tips.

Working less than $9/ hour sounds horrible! I'm a server at a DIT AMC 20 theater in Orange County and I make minimum wage plus tips. It can be a very rewarding job but it's also an incredibly demanding job. If you don't handle stress well I don't suggest becoming a server.

I personally love it because I'm a people person and I enjoy challenges and busy/ fast paced environments.

I work as a server in a nationally known place.
Tonight I worked 5 hours, 1 of which was after closing, and I made about $30.50 per hour.
That's with my wage and tips included. I live in Cali and the new minimum wage is $7.50 per hour.
Not all days/nights are that good and some are better.
It all balances out at the end of the month.
And, YES it IS a hard job!!!!
I've been at it for nearly 20 years, so I could do it blind-folded, but it is physically tiring no matter what.

Being a server is very hard work. Customers are rude, demanding, and cheap. Restaurants pay servers $3.65 an hour whether they are full time or part time. Most restaurants hire often because of all the **** servers have to put up with. A lot of times they are a no show no call. The floor chart has to be changed and every body gets switched around. It is a real mess.

I worked at Chili's. Waiting tables is a job that doesn't take alot to learn. You just memorize the menu and abbreviations and you are good. Umm I banked about 75 to 90 dollars a night there. One thing I hated is on weekends getting off around 2 am but do it

I worked as a waitress full time at shoneys in Dalton Ga in the late 80's and my tips were usually around $300.00 a week . that was for 5 nights a week. From 5pm to 11pm . probably now you could make $600.00 . working at chili's, red lobster or ruby tuesday you could probably make more.

I really think the rate of pay per hour depends on your state, but in most cases you are really going to be relying on tips, which will vary on your service and your looks (unfortunately, some men will still tip on your looks and not your service, again depending on where you are)
California has a minimum wage of I think $7.25 (plus tips) but from what I understand, other states have MUCH lower rates, based on the fact that you'll get tips............

Im a server and in all honesty, how much you make is largely going to depend on how good of a job you do. Chili's is a fairly popular restaurant, but down here in Pensacola, the servers make no money there. It completely depends on how many servers are on the floor, how busy it is, and how well you do your job. Good luck to you!
