I am trying to understand this bus crash by the simulated picture on the Internet. Was that an exit? Wasn't it marked by a big green sign as all exits are usually marked? Was there a stop sign at the end of the exit??Is anyone familiar with that place? What a sad thing to happen.I just don't understand how a bus can go that fast up an exit ramp without slowing down. Those poor people.

Hi

I have lived in metro Atlanta for over 15 years and the roads/highways here are a mess. Driving on any of the interstate roads here is a nightmare. Many times, they do not have signs that say lane ends or merge or if say 400N or 400S is going to be in the right lane or left lane as you drive- you just sort of end up with the exit right there and have to make a decision! I am not surprised by what happened nor are many of the drivers here. It was dark, and the road he went on was really an exit ramp to a bridge- where he had to turn right or left. He thought he was still on the main road and did not know he was on an exit ramp. Unfortunately, either there were no signs to tell him that he was on that ramp or he did not see them. However, most unfortunately the road the bus was on ended at the rail of a bridge overhanging the highway with a huge drop. I don't think he thought he needed to slow down as he thought he was still on the straight road. Also, people drive very fast on the interstate here. So he just drove straight and went over the rail onto the highway and probably had no time to turn when he realized what happened.I do not know if there were signs to indicate the road ended and he had to turn. Many times I have found myself in the wrong lane or on an exit ramp because there were no signs pre-warning you of oncoming ramps, exit roads, or merging roads.

It is very sad and we must pray for the people injured and the families and friends of the deceased.

p.s. not really familiar with that particular spot but as stated poor markings and/or signs,no signs, fast driving and the darkness (although signs could have been lit up) are fairly common here.

Anyone can make a mistake on ANY roads in the U.S....and NO, not all roads are marked well enough to know where they're going and where the ends are...
Having driven all over the U.S. (and I mean ALL OVER). I can see the problems a person might have if they aren't familiar with the roads...it's worse at night, in the rain and when theres construction.
I feel sorry for all the families...the kids who are hurt and lost their friends....but an accident is just that...an accident.
