I suppose everyone here can use this Q as a soapbox to pontificate about some issue (the Iraq war, tax breaks for the wealthy, etc.).

But the way I see it, we should ALL agree that we HATE paying taxes for wasteful, unnecessary, pork-barrel, earmarked, political favoritism-based spending programs.

For example, our local congressman (ex-speaker Hastert) brags about getting millions in federal funding for a stupid bridge that we've lived without for years and is of debatable use to the local populace (let alone to the national pool of taxpayers who collectively funded it).

And he's a Republican conservative!

On the plus side...I agree with a strong national defense, funding for medical research that would otherwise be ignored based on low private industry profit incentives, and Social Security. These are all beneficial and necessary programs that would not be possible in the private sector.

Bottom line: stop wasting money and fund programs that are needed but which could not happen without government funding.

some would and some does no longer. in this partisan season, many are merely questioning about how tremendous their candidate is and how incorrect the others are. Others are extra coolheaded. i do not see this as a large challenge both way, in my opinion, and have a tendency to believe the media shops that this is small replace. yet this question easily opened my eyes to the prospect that i have been incorrect. If the unique poster ought to apply the $30 for groceries, then i guess Clinton wasn't incorrect to assert, good day, possibly you people with a great number of money do not opt for $30, yet a great number of people do.

I hate paying taxes on education, because according to the Democrats, there never is enough money for the children. But the education system is failing, so they ask for more, more and MORE money, but still, there isn't enough. Don't hand me the bs that Bush made the "No child left behind" crap because that was Kennedy's program.
I like to spend money on the defense fund, but not just for today's soldier, but yesterdays as well.

Keeping criminals off the streets, keeping the roads open and our country safe from attack is what I want the government doing. Education needs better local control, yes, federal standards but less PC useless crap and more what kids need to know to preserve teh nation and survive as good citizens. I don't want to pay for all this foreign crap or benefits for illegal aliens or hostile persons intent on killing us or overthrowing our government or attacking our military, an enemy combatant of undeclared war or nationality is a terrorist, they forfeit all rights when they try to attack us. Keeping convicted, undoubtedly guilty killers alive in a crowbar motel is a waste of money and risks their escape, killing in jail, or being paroled by some fruitcake judge or technicality. A $37 million dollar opera house in Oneonta NY, because they have to compete with neighboring Cooperstown on everything is a waste of taxpayer's money you can thank Sen. Hillary Clinton for. "Let them have opera!".
