Hey, I took a practice SAT test with Princeton Review to prepare me for the ones to come, and on the essay grade I recieved an "8" but in all my books and on college board the grade is until "6" and I don't know what an "8" means. I don't think it's a typo because it also says Well Written: 8, and something else: 8. Please tell if you know anything. thanks so much!

The '8' is a composite score. Two people scored your essay on a 1-6 scale, and both scores are combined to give you your results on a 2-12 scale. An even score means that both scorers gave you the same score, in this case a '4'.

This is certainly not a bad score, but if you're looking to get into a competitive college you might want to brush up on your grammar and remember to cite a resource in your essay.

(Incidentally, I received the same score on my SAT essay.)

Good luck, and hope this helps!
