Sylvia has been getting a lot of bad press lately and I am saddened to find things she has been party to. She has made mistakes and I have seen parts of her books that have obviously been plagiarized. I was very sad to find this out and felt I had been slapped.
However, that being said, when my man committed suicide 8 years ago, it was Sylvia's books combined with the beliefs he had taught me that pulled me through that black time. When one is ready to do oneself in and finds answers that resonate well, one accepts the life raft and ignores where it comes from.
Over the years I read many of her books. I found, whatever the source, much of what she wrote clarified and put into words things i was struggling with. Her book on cellular memory is now being proven by science. I did not know that until 3 days ago when a friend asked me what I knew about the subject.
Now I see things about Sylvia that dismay me. She has become driven by $$ and this is NOT the path of a true psychic. When I was 13 I read a book on a very famous Dutch psychic called Gerard Croiset. One thing he said, and my psychic friends have verified this, is that it is absolutely wrong to use ones skills for profit. Perhaps to meet traveling expenses etc, but not to become wealthy.
This is where I have problems and cannot watch her on Montel any longer. I think Sylvia started out with a skill, a knowing, that few possess. I can personally vouch that these skills do exist in people and are often carried through the genetic structure.
However, I feel as if Sylvia is attempting to start a dynasty with her son Christopher being groomed to replace her. She is 70 after all.
Should you take her advice? Her waiting list is several years long and she is embarrassingly expensive. If I remember correctly it is about $500 for a short phone call.
It just depends on what you are looking for. Personally, I have become disillusioned.

She is to be avoided like the plague. Her practices are occultic, which are strictly forbidden. Here is the best reference in Deuteronomy:
Deuteronomy 18:9-14
9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

Sylvia Browne has a very large following;
she makes a LOT of money annually;
she would love you to join her supporters.
EVERYONE has "Free Will"
YOU have to follow your head and heart.
I stay as far away as possible from 'personalities' who are influenced by spirits from the 'other side'.

Nope, she is a fraud, but pretty good at something called cold reading, which is the method people claiming to be psychics use. She has been wrong on countless occasions; recently she said that that boy who was missing for 4 years was dead, and later he was found alive. But do check out the website posted below and decide for yourself if you want to follow her advice.

NO!! she is a fraud, i dont know if you have heard of Shawn Hornbeck, but he is a boy who had been missing in Missouri for four years, he disappeared without a trace, his family went on Montel to talk to Silvia, and she told the family that he was dead, and he made it to the other side just fine, blah, blah blah, well they found Shawn back in January after his abductor took another child and a tip led them right to where the freak had been holding Shawn for four years.

Listen, I am not against psychics or one of those people who says all psychics are con-artists... but I think she might be.
There are many people with lost children who she has told off-the-wall details about their abductions and when the crime has been solved her predictions were proven wrong.
This is expected... all psychics can be given some slack (if you believe in them) but she states all of her revelations with certainty and confidence. The parents that recently found their boy living with a pizza manager (I am sure you have heard of them) actually consulted her on the Montel Williams and was told the boy was dead... once again, it was said with certainty. If you notice she never says "I think..." or "I am not sure but..." It is always "Your child has been sold to a white slavery ring and has been shipped to Hong Kong... I am sorry, he is living in a sewer beneath a Chinese restaraunt... his only friend is a dog who is trying to protect him but it is getting harder and harder...." Bizzare details that makes me question her abilities.

I have thought about this a lot - wether or not to believe in these tv phsychics. I see where many are coming from, feeling like these phsychics in the public eye are greedy and just trying to make a buck. I think there are many people out there who really are cold reading to make money, and doing even worse, cruel things that most people wouldn't even think of. But, after reading a few of Sylvia's books, watching her on Montel each week, and lots of weighing and thinking about the subject, I've decided that I don't thnk Sylvia is cold reading or really money driven.
I believe that God or whatever you want to call it, wants you to enjoy your life, and enjoy all the things this world has to offer. I don't think there is anything wrong with being wealthy, or enjoying material things, as long as you don't become obsessed with things and money and start to live to obtain them. I haven't yet heard of Sylvia enjoying anything really that seems like an obscene waste of money (like building something ridiculous like Neverland Ranch). It's ok though, I feel, to enjoy a nice home, car, clothes, and food - unless however, the trials of poverty are what you'll learn from the most, and in that case you'd be one of those people I believe, who just can't get a break, and lives in poverty their entire lives.
It does get a bit irritating to see Montel pushing her books, but the publisher plays a role in that - and also Montel is paid to do that, since the show makes it's money from advertisers. If they didn't, we wouldn't see Sylvia, or Montel! I think Sylvia is allowed to enjoy having money, after all, she does do a lot of work, even if you don't believe in it. She travels all over the world giving lectures and readings, she writes books, makes appearances, she is all but a mini-celebrity - and I believe that she is doing all this because she truly believes she is helping people. Now even if she were the most humble of authors, the publisher knows that they can make a lot of money from Sylvia's books, and they wouldn't pass up a prime opportunity like the Montel Williams show to promote their author and book. I think if they did they'd be a pretty crappy publishing company! The idea is to sell books. That's why you publish, and I would think you would want to go to a publisher who's going to really get the book out there. I truly think Sylvia, wether her abilities are real or not, believes that they are real, and thinks she is doing something good for humanity.
I personally do believe she is authentic. She only claims to be 70 some percent accurate, and though I do believe she is phsychic, I also believe that we have yet to understand what being phsychic really is. I wouldn't be surprised, if in years to come, scientists find that what we think of now as predicting the future, is really a sort of telepathy. I think we are all phsychic to some extent because we are all connected, and maybe she just is more in tune with that aspect of ourselves that we don't really understand and nurture in our society yet. Also I think that what Sylvia expresses as messages, sometimes is influenced by her own interpretation of what she is feeling - making her statement seem false, when maybe she just interpreted it incorrectly.
In any case, I know I'm going on here a bit, but I think she's as authentic as any phsychic could be, and I think she has every right to enjoy the benefits from it. After all, I am fortunate enough to have nice things and a great life, and I'll tell you what, I don't feel guilty one bit about it. I am doing what I feel is right in my life, and do what I feel is hard work to earn it. You can always debate that, but I feel good about it. So as long as Sylvia's not intentionally decieving people, and I don't think she is, then I think she has every right to enjoy the good things that come from it. :)
As for listening to her or not, well, I say, follow your gut, and if it sounds right to you, then go ahead and listen, if not, then don't. :)

it all depends of what you mean ? if you think the advice can benefit you just do it, but in the contrary if you think it may cause you trouble forget about it. Just remember that we should take what can help us ,it it doesn't help just throw it away.
