While you may not have an insurance claim, you can make a claim on your taxes if you itemize. There is a specific section of the federal tax forms that deals with stolen property. Make an investment in Turbo Tax and it will walk you through all the steps and fill out the appropriate sections (Turbo Tax and all tax service costs are tax deductible). Keep all your receipts, the police report and have the bluebook value of your car available just in case. You may not get any money back immediately but you might be able to get an increased tax refund or decrease the size of your tax liability. I hope this helps.

to put it bluntly, you are screwed. Let's think about this for a moment. You have $27K car, NOT insured (what were you thinking?). The theives don't have money or they would have just bought themselves a car. The government should pay you for the damages, why would they? After all, you were breaking the law (in most states) by not have insurance to begin with! Consider it a lesson learned and get insurance on your next car!

Yeah, carry insurance on your stuff. That really makes it easy.

If they ever catch the people who stole it and thrashed it you can sue for damages.
