I hate to say it those who lean more toward the liberal side are more guilty of this! Just read some of the answers here, most people don't answer the question completely, but rather just make whatever statement they want. Is this the fault of our failing education system or our society in general?

I noticed this as well. It really takes a lot away from the concept of debate. Please answer the question fully and then make your statement at the end, that's what I say. Also, I really appreciate your user name HAHA

I don't know where you read it either. Next time jot down such things so you can cite your sources in the future. When people fail to answer the question it may be because of the nature of the question being asked, or statement being made and called a question. Crappy questions deserve crappy answers. It goes both ways, not to single you out or those whom you charge with such things. Interestingly your obviously conservative slant sees the other side, liberal, as not answering questions the way you would like but you must realize that one on the other side can, rightfully, say the same about your side due to their slant.

Opinions, when given for the sake of opinion hold little weight regardles of which side one is on, but when one cites sources than what is said either holds more weight or can be dismissed due to a source which may be significantly slanted in one way or the other. Regarding slant, of course each side thinks that a source that does not agree with them is grossly slanted toward the other side. It is difficult, to admit we are wrong and accept the facts presented by the other side. Sometimes the facts which might be miniscule are blown to gigantic proportion to irk the other side or because one has been brainwashed by some media or other source to believe it really is that large.

When someone asks a question like which is more I have seen people of on some diatribe instead of doing the math. So I know what you mean about not answering questions. Believe me it happens to both sides by the other side. (Of course it is human nature to think our side doesn't or does less of it.)

There are a lot of reasons. I'll give you my opinion.

Some people are only interested in espousing their own agenda, and these answers often bear nio relationship to the question at all.

Some people take the opportunity to take a shot at the Questioner. Some of these questioners deserve to be shot.

Some questions are so awkwardly phrased that an answer would be difficult.

Some questions are just statements with a question mark after them.

Some questions are similar to "when did you stop beating your wife" and any answer would be the wrong one.

And some questions are, frankly, just plain dumb and don't deserve an answer.

Most people who reply are stupid with IQs less than 50. There are a few truly intelligent people who reply from time to time and my hat is off to them. I read their answers and often learn a great deal.

How do you know the ones who fail to answer questions are liberal? I would think about 75% just say the first thing that comes into their minds.

Why do people on yahoo ask questions they think they already know the answer to? I hate to say it, but those who lean toward the conservative side are far more guilty of this!

Probably emotions. In the political sections people can let their emotions get the better of them. You usually don't see this, for example, in the natural science & mathematics section.

Because its not about correctly answering the question it is about giving your opinion most of the time. Just like you are doing now, I am not aswering your question fully I am just giving myt opinio on your question

Probably because so many of us would rather inflate our egos than help each other out.
