this is a little embarassing but, I wanna lose weight badly, i'm following a very calorie restricted diet (no more then 1000)...and exercising a couple hour a day ontop of the 6 times a week of hockey.

I'm told i'm healthy, but my gym said I need to lose 25-30 lbs and they said I had 38% body fat. I can't help but see this large figure infront of me and now I find anytime I eat, i feel really, really guilty and get all bummed out

But I can't help it...I feel so consumed with this...I'm taking a few things to try and help...diet pills and a couple of intestinal cleansers a day. I don't have an eating disorder, and I know theres no way i'm gonna get on. I've got more control then that.

But i feel so consumed...I wanna lose the weight so badly...but I don't know why...and I feel myself getting mroe and more consumed each day. That thought of consumption scares me....does that make sense?

I have to agree with the previous answer - what gym is this??? They are not nutritionists, they are not doctors!! Shame on them for telling YOU what you need to loose. A good gym will ask YOU what your goals are and will help develop a plan to achieve them. You should really consider reporting either the individual that told you this to their superiors, or if it is a gym policy, report the whole damn gym to the BBB. They are just there to sell memberships and sell their crapy supplements, and will tell you anything to get you to buy them.

With the activity level that you state you are doing, you really need to increase your calorie content to about 1800 a day. Make sure you get enough protein and carbs while working out, it is important for muscle development. Muscles use more energy than fat, so as you build muscle you burn fat.

Blow off the diet pills and intestianl cleansers, not a good choice. Water water water. Try to drink 4 liters a day and cut out sodas and even diet sodas.

Figure out what is important to you. Is it a specific weight, a dress size, what. Then set small goals to reach each month. Don't get on a scale every day, it will only drive you crazy. Clothes is usually the best guage of how you are doing. There is a great book out there called 'Sculpting Her Body Perfect'. Don't focus on the calorie thing, instead, eat small healthy amounts throughout the day (breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack) nothing fried, no fast food. Don't deprive yourself of something you are craving, if you do, you will be more likely to over do it. If you want a piece of chocolate, have a hersey's kiss (not the king sized bar).

Hate to say it, but the word 'consumed' is a fine line away from disorder . . .

If you are working out for a couple of hours a day and only consuming 1000 calories, your problem lies right there. If you want to lose weight, you have to consume at least 1200 to 1500 calories per day or your body is going to go into starvation mode (which I suspect it is in now). When this happens, your body will conserve what calories you consume, regardless of what you do, because it thinks you are starving.

Weight loss will happen more rapidly with at least 1500 calories which consist of protein and fiber, dropping all of the pills and letting your body cleanse itself (it knows how to do this) and eating small meals, frequently (for example, three small meals and three protein bars per day). Diet pills are a hoax. No matter if they are over the counter or prescription, they take weight off but when you are done make you gain twice what you lost.

Save your money, eat more, more often, and do an hour of cardio five times per week. It works wonders.

P.S. Don't worry about what they say at the gym. Sounds like you're muscular and muscle weighs more than fat. Weight is just a number. It's what makes you feel good that's most important.

You are entering a danger zone. The fact that you see yourself as fat in a mirror, when you are not, means you are in the first stage of anorexia. You say you don't have a eating disorder but you are coming very close to doing the same thing by taking intestinal cleaners.

Get your thinking straightened back up and look around you. Are there more people with normal weights or are there more people with skin just draped over some bones. A woman with some meat, and yes some fat, is much appealing than the "skin and bones" women. Who in the world wants to hug a sack of bones. Might as well go out and hug a skinny tree. Flesh is warm and soft, bones are cold and hard. Get my drift?
Don't let the thoughts you are being consumed by, continue. Break out of that rut. Someone has psyched you out.
Good luck. Pops

You know - depriving yourself of food is not the answer. I have found over the years that cutting carbs is the answer. I'm not saying as strict as Atkins - but..... you can modify normal food to be "lower" carb.

Example: When I go out to dinner, I hardly ever eat bread or potatoes or rice. (They are foods that will put weight on! period - especially if eaten with protein). So..... I always ask for an extra "green" vegetable" instead of the starch.... no problems.

It's the one little change you make. Another one: Soda will put on weight badly..... lots of carbs in soda (and many sweet wines and beer) - so have something with splenda. ICut out soft drinks!!!! Again, it's the one little change - not the big ones. You have to make a life change that you can live with over a long period of time.

Also, try not to eat past 6:00 pm - as a general rule. Your biggest meal is best at lunch time or just past lunch and just a light snack at mealtime. It makes sense - because you're 'burning' during the day... At night - you don't require as much food as you're more dormant.

You'll be fine if you don't obsess about it. Enjoy your food. I find that Suzanne Somers has a wonderful eating plan. I have all of her cookbooks - wonderful food - great way to eat - and truly, the weight just melts off". I'm the only person I know that actually loses weight at Thanksgiving meal!!!! Like she says - you eat the 'best part' of the meal.... leave the bread, dough, etc. - HAH - but she's really right - don't even miss it.

Because I love to eat - I am an "all or nothing" personality - so haven't had a donut (or been tempted) for about 20 years. People can be eating donuts all around me - but I'm never tempted because it's just "out of my life"....... Sometimes if you have that "weakness" (because I love donuts) cutting out an 'empty' food will allow you to eat many other foods in your day.

Suzannesomers.com is a great site with lots of support and food ideas from people who love food, love to eat and are losing weight.

Forget about dieting. The very word makes one feel deprived. It like putting a big white elephant in your living room and telling you to forget about it. How could you? Make friends with food. But take up a hobby, etc. Something else to get your mind on. Women are suppose to have 20% body fat anyway. For survival reasons. If your gym is making you feel that bad DUMP them. Go for a softer gentler program like Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig. Lay off the cleanses, can cause intestional problems. Any program that is fanatical is innappropriate.

Maybe hit up the fruits and vegetables a lot more? Hockey is awesome!

And remember what you said about the eating disorders...Really remember it. Sometimes people tell themselves that, but then they really do go anorexic. Keep checking that you're losing weight the right way.

Research those supplements you're taking...not all are good/safe/etc.

Eating disorders are ALL ABOUT control. You think you're in control of what you're eating/doing, so you work and work and restrict yourself more and more. You're not in control of the situation, the paranoia you feel over being a certain weight is. Please, take this to a counselor or your doctor or someone who can help you figure out what's really going on here. People aren't meant to walk through their lives alone, so try talking to someone you know and trust along with all of us anonymous and dubiously motivated people out in internet land. I wish you all the best and hope you take the best advice you're given about this to heart, whether it's mine or not.
