2(6d+3)=18-3(16-3d)
(2 x 6d) + (2 x 3) = 18 - [(3 x 16)-(3 x -3d)]
12d+6 = 18-(48-9d)
___-18_-18
12d -12 = -(48-9d) (To get these out of the parenthesis, times them by -1, you'll get -48, and +9d [2 negatives = a positive])
12d - 12 = -48 + 9d
-9d__________-9d
3d - 12 = -48
___+12_+12
3d = -36
Divide both sides by 3
d = -12

2(6d + 3) = 18 - 3(16 - 3d)
First, distribute the terms outside of the brackets.
2(6d) + 2(3) = 18 - 3(16) - 3(-3d)
Simplify.
12d + 6 = 18 - 48 + 9d
Everything with a d, on the left hand side; everything else, right hand side.
12d - 9d = -6 + 18 - 48
Group like terms.
3d = 12 - 48
3d = -36
d = -12

2(6d+3) = 18-3(16-3d)
Multiply out the brackets
12d+6 = 18 - 48 + 9d
Subtract 9d from both sides
3d+6 = -30
Subtract 6 from both sides
3d = -36
Divide both sides by 3
d = -12

2(6d + 3) = 18 - 3(16 - 3d)
First distribute...
12d + 6 = 18 - 48 + 9d
combine like terms
12d + 6 = -30 + 9d
subtract to get like terms together...
3d + 6 = -30
3d = -36
then divide by three to get the variable "d" by itself
d= -12

Multiply to "open" the parentheses.
(12d + 6) = 18 - (48 + 9d)
Add and subtract to get like terms on one side
12d + 6 - 9d = 18 - 48 + 9d - 9d
3d + 6 - 6 = 18 - 48 - 6
3d = -36
Divide
3d / 3 = -36 / 3
d = -12
Reduce
d = -1-5/7

2(6d + 3) = 18 - 3(16 -3d)
First you eliminate brackets:
12d + 6 = 18 - 48 + 9d
Then, "apples" with "apples" and "pears" with "pears"
12d - 9d = 18 - 48 - 6
3d = - 36
d = - 12

I personely (did I spell that right?) think that you should look in what ever math book you were assigned for this answer. I can tell you this step-by-step, but the issued math books can tell you why, how come, and how it relates to other equations. Checking in the book will also give you experience in research, as using "yahoo answers" will only get you this far in math help.
