Many people wonder about why Hamilton, Jackson, and Grant; from the $10, $20 and $50 appear on our currency. The reason is that back in 1928, when the current people depicted on our currency were selected, these were considered the most significant Americans worthy of this honor. There are movements today to replace any one of these three with other more contemporary individuals such as F.D.R., Kennedy and Reagan.

Politics plain and simple. But most agree Jefferson, Washington, Lincoln, Hamilton and Franklin were men who helped shaped the country we have today. FDR was a big controversey, a lot of people refused it and would demand 2 nickles instead. The "sqauwbuck" is a lot prettier than her French trapper husband who actually was the guide Lewis & Clark hired. Frankly I think the old coin designs were better, a buffalo, eagle, indian chief, etc.
