Check your oil!!! When you brake, the oil is "slung" to the front of the pan, and the pump can suck air, and you lose oil pressure. The ticking is because your hydraulic lifters are not getting enough oil pressure to operate properly.

If your oil level is normal, you may have a clogged oil strainer or oil filter. You didn't mention what kind of vehicle this is: certain Fords are notorious for having tiny oil pickup screens in the pan that clog quite easily.

The only thing I'm certain of is that you are losing oil pressure for some reason, and that your engine will not last very long with low oil pressure. Read my article on my website: http://econofix.com/oilite.html for more info.

you could be low on oil and when you brake momentum forces oil to one side of you oil pan. Since it is only when you brake the oil pick up is more than likely at the rear of the pan. So your oil pressure will go down and that will trigger the light. Or it could just be some ****** up electrical problem. I would bring it to a mechanic and have him look at it. He should have a ball trying to figure it out

You better check the oil cuz it sounds you are really low. The clicking is from the valves not getting enough oil or you are low on oil.

What you do is get the Haynes Repair Manual for your Year and model of vehicle at Auto Zone, or another automotive repair shop. The manual will show you what and how to do the repairs.

The first thing to do is check the oil level. You have probably done that already. Could be a valve, too. The light maybe a glitch if it is only on when you brake.

low oil level!!!
you're gonna blow up your engine from no lubrication.
when did you last change oil?
it doesn't matter. pull the dipstick and you'll see it has very little oil in it. add engine oil immediately unless you want to throw thousands of dollars away. it may be too late.

Fill your car up with oil to the level on the dipstick :) if its full take it to your mechanic and tel him you are pretty sure you need an oil pump replaced before your burn your motor up .
