Look into the past; all of America's Wars have been led by a Republican government, or a situation where the government let the General to have major say in the War. All except one, Vietnam. Based on the past, I would much rather have a Republican in charge of the War. Democrats are good when it comes to national problems; but w/ foreign threats and wars is where the Republicans can really pull through.

I am a Viet Nam vet. Look to history to predict the future. Not one battle was lost by U.S. fighting men in Nam. The war was lost by a Democratic Congress that refused to fund the troops which led to the deaths of millions of innocent people in Cambodia and Viet Nam. L.B.J. and his Sec. of Defense refused to allow our pilots to alternate their flight routes into the north or to take out the S.A.M. sites because they might be manned by Russian military. Not all Dems. want the immediate withdrawal. The concern I have is the likes of Hilliary, just like her husband, holds her finger up to the polling wind to see which way it is blowing. She supported the war against terrorism until the left decided that we can "reason and talk" to the terrorist. Should the free nations abandon the fight there it will come here. I have little or no trust in the Dems. to protect the nation. Bill Clinton is a prime example. I was part of a group of law enforcement officers that during Bill Clinton's terms we gathered 9mm ammo for the U.S. Military to use because Clinton had cut our military to shreds and they had no practice ammo. Trust must be earned not demanded. I'm still waiting for John Kerry to release ALL his military records not just the part he made up.

As a former marine. I trust our military to run a war. I do not trust our politicians when they tie the hands of the actual war fighters with political correctness insanity injurious to the war fighters. e.g. seven
steps in the rules of engagement before one can fire on an enemy
combatant? A lawyer in the field ready to file charges against OUR
soldiers based on the lawyers observations? Our troops are trussed
hand and foot and then court-martialed for NOT FIGHTING FAIR?
hello???

talking as an brisk responsibility serviceman, I type of chortle at truly some the "stats" being presented in this question. i have seen only as many Democrats and Liberals contained in the protection stress as i have seen Republican. reality study, truly some protection stress help Republicans even as it includes voting in reality because it truly is in our perfect activity... Republicans are traditionally more suitable likely to furnish will boost, advantages and funding to the protection stress than Democrats. some human beings vote Republican even inspite of the truth that they don't percentage an identical ideological beliefs. talking for myself, the topic matters are undesirable on both aspect of the activities. truly frankly, I abhor what the Republicans are doing. jointly, I hated Clinton. I watched reliable protection stress workers get kicked out of lively responsibility because of "moral subject matters" like being gay, or adultery. yet the following is our Commander in chief, getting a hummer from a artwork subordinate in his place of work. Yeah, large party from the Democrats there. i imagine our finished party (and voting) equipment needs an overhaul. Too many "professional politicians" on both aspect of the living house.

Joe Lieberman. He disagrees with the Republicans on everything except the war. He knows that Iraq is just one milestone in the war on terror. He actually wants to win it and would see that we would . He is the only Democrat Senator. Their are a few Congressman who don't want an immediate withdrawal.

I was going to say "No way!" but then I caught a glimpse of the first guys answer. I agree that Joe Lieberman is not a "nut case" and could do the job well. He thinks about things logically and then decides. That's what we need. I can't think of another one I'd trust, though.

why wouldn't you trust a dem to run the war? are we doing so great now under repub rule? at this point - regardless of party affiliation - i hope someone has some sense to lead us in a better direction. as far as withdrawal, using the term all dems is pretty broad. and as far as i know, there are even some repubs that are advocating withdrawal.

I wouldn't trust a dem to babysit let alone manage a war. Look at there track record, how they talk, etc. I support the troops but don't want to give them the additional troops they say are needed and would obviously help?! I support the troops, but hold a vote showing the enemy how half the congress is not behind their efforts?! I support the troops, but talk about cutitng funding, etc.?! I want to protect America, but want to withdrawal in March and that makes us safer how?!

Yes, because democrats know how to run wars without death. If Kerry was elected 3 years ago, we woudn't be in this trouble right now. Most democrats want withdrawal from Iraq because democrats defend, not attack.

All Democrats? Pretty broad statement. Several Republicans, too. 60+% of the American people. Bush has no plan, each stab he makes, he hopes it will work. Hey, I hope it will work but I doubt it will. He and his bunch knew nothing about Iraq, predicated this war on lies, entered it with Pollyanna views of how the Iraqis would greet us with open arms.
Well, a great stinking pile of dung it has become. Bush can't run the war. Someone else needs to.
