Well, I know that *Officially* the U.S. government is supposed to be a representative (that is, a "republican" or Roman-styled) democracy. It isn't *as* democratic as it should be because the Founding Fathers themselves both a) distrusted the good will of the "masses", being landed gentry themselves at the time, and b) had their own political hot issues to deal with, like slavery in the Southern States, and getting that Constitution ratified by *all* of the States at the time.

But...just from what history I've read in my schooling and education in life.....it sure seems like the trend, at least since the Civil War between North and South, has been to let Big Business own more and more of what should be the Public Sector, even in the face of that sector *growing bigger and bigger* to protect both the countryside (the environment) and the citizens themselves (labor rights, civil rights, voting rights, etc.). And while that trend halted with the Great Depression of the late 1930s into the early 1940s and World War II, truth is things resumed apace by the late 1970s to early 1980s....

And now? It seems like we only *appear* to be a Government Of the People, By the People, and For the People. It really looks like we've given it ALL away to Big Business in general and Big Oil, Big Banking in *particular*. We literally *aren't allowed* to vote for anyone who represents the interests of ordinary citizens anymore. The only choices we are *given* are for Polite and Rude versions of the same Pro-Big-Oil, Pro-Big-Debt, and Pro-Big-Terror candidate archetype.....

You know, the person who says he'll do one thing and then on election ends up sucking up to the *same* exact rat's nest of rich old men who are funding the fundies and psychos and cheating good people out of every *last* worthy job by outsourcing the *life* out of entire *cities*.....

So yeah, I'll say it. The whole political thing is a ruse, a fraud, a sham.

It's all about the Rich Guys. The richest 10% pretty much get to dictate everything, and the only restraint on their power is that they have to make sure that their own clique of cronies is appeased. Which isn't that strict of a requirement if you've already *lucked* yourself into that system, if you've already been born into that clique of privilege.

The rest is just a damn figurehead, posing and mouthing off and meaning NOTHING to the lives of the ordinary people these so-called "politicians" are supposed to *represent*. Ordinary people can't even get a raise in the minimum wage without those damn filthy CEO Leeches in Big Business getting theirs *first*. Ordinary people can't even *get* clean air or clean water laws passed without CEOs and Big Business getting their loopholes and exceptions and Pollution Credits *first*. Big Business--think Archer Daniels Midland, *all* U.S. Airlines, Big Oil and Big Banking, they ALL get *billions* in WELFARE each year, courtesy of *unfunded* Tax Cuts, Incentives to Outsource, Loan Guarantees, loopholes in both labor and environmental standards, unrestricted price gouging AND FLAT OUT PAYOFFS....and yet for each dollar they get, they piss and moan endlessly about ordinary citizens, some of our poorest people, *getting a nickel on their dollar* in individual welfare payments. God Forbid if a Mere Citizen should need adequate health care, or an education to get a better job, or a chance to *get out of harm's way* when a Hurricane comes.....oh no, we can't help them, Let Them Eat Cake is our Official Policy now.

Quite simply put. Look for the money. Look at where the *attention* of our society is. Ordinary people are Nothing around here. Citizens don't matter. You're a Donald Trump or you're a nothing. If you have issues and are an addict, you *can* become President....but only if your *Daddy* can Buy You The Office.

It's disgusting and appalling is what it is.

It is the end of the *longest* winter, and yet it snows, and the *wolves* are at the door. And yet so many of us are blind and deaf to it all.
