I can think of lots of reasons, you know best about which one fits :)

1) not tired cause u didn't move around much.
2) caffine.
3) bad eating habbits / not eating right
4) worrying too much
5) stress

Thoes are the 5 main factors.

Take a break, happiness is the key to well being. Why worry about things you have no control over? It'll make you sick. Relax; go with the flow. Things will work out better than you expect. It always does :)

Make the most of those waking hours. Why lie awake in bed worrying about not sleeping when you could use this time to write a novel, do your ironing, get ahead on the day's work. We are so obsessed with having to sleep during certain hours, maybe this does not suit your biological clock!! Some people have a longer biological day than 24 hours, maybe 25 hours or more. I once read that staying up for an entire night can re-set the clock and lift mild depression. In the meantime, make the most of your additional time. Many people worry there are not enough hours in the day and you are blessed with extra time!!!

Are you trying to sleep and unable, or just not tired enough to sleep?

Is something bothering you?

Where do you live? Could there be an allergy of some sort?

Is sleep apnea a possible issue here? Or do you use too much caffeine (you should stop drinking anything with caffeine in it 8 hours before you want to go to sleep.)

Anyhow some possible solutions:

1) Eat the right type of foods. Turkey or pasta will relax you.

2) Consider drinking milk - chocolate milk especially. Or cammomile tea.

3) Valerian Root is a natural calmative.

4) Once again - stay away from anything stimulating - caffeine based drinks (coffee, tea, cola drinks) for at least 8 hours before you want to go to bed.

5) Relax yourself for a bit of time before you want to go to sleep - watch a movie or read. Just becareful - you don't want to get into the habit of using your bed for anything else other than sleep.

6) But if you can't sleep at least rest. Resist the temptation to get up and do something. Sometimes even if i wasn't able to sleep at least by being still and quiet somewhere, usually listening to quiet music, helped my body to recooperate enough.

Your body should catch up with you eventually and you will get the sleep you need. But if this happens on a regular basis you will need to be checked out, as it could be any number of things causing your insomnia.

Good luck.

You have a lot on your mind? Insomnia? Did you eat something that's keeping you up? Anxious? Did you work out before bed?

The best thing to spend another 15 or so minutes on the computer to tire you out a bit more, and then go back to your room and go to sleep.

Turn off all lights and distracting noises (i.e. t.v.). It's good to have a constant, comforting noise, like from a humidifier or air conditioner, for example. Turn off your "thoughts." The temperature should be room temperature. If it's too hot or too cold, your bodily will naturally wake you up.

When I can't sleep, I repeat something comforting over and over again in my head (I always say, "Help me fall asleep, God, please help me fall asleep" to a bit of a rythym), and after about 5 minutes, I'm sleeping.

there are many factors in this
are you drinking coffee
you may be depressed
are you worried about things.
or it coluld be a simple tihng, you are thinking to much if it is 4.15 in the morning your brain has to be half asleep try going to bed and slow all your thinking down all the images in your head put in slow motion this will tell your brain to calm down and then you will be able to relax, once you are relaxed you will be able to sleep try this for a couple of nights and it might work.
or if that don't work try calming yourself an hour before you go to bed try doing this about 11.00 o' clock sit in the room and slow everything down breath deep breaths.
