Like Jerry said you could use PSP Express which is a free download available at http://www.pqdvd.com/psp/video_converter.html

PSP Video 9, also a free download, is available at http://www.pspvideo9.com/

You've also the choice of :
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Multimedia_and_Graphics/Video_and_Animation_Tools/ImTOO_DVD_to_PSP_Converter.html
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Multimedia_and_Graphics/Video_and_Animation_Tools/Xilisoft_DVD_to_PSP_Converter.html
http://www.gold-software.com/download9824.html
all of which are free downloads!

Please check out your system configuration and see if it matches the requirements to run this there.

As to your question about your inability to play DVDs on your comp, may I ask if you have a DVD drive on it? If so, do you have the drivers in place? I'll come back later to see if I can help you further. Please post your reply to these questions.

Ah, if you don't don't have a DVD Drive, then you can only view the soft copies of movies in .avi, or .mpg etc etc formats! You can't "rip" a DVD, simply because you can't access it, you see! You can only download soft copies of these.

DVDs are usually made in .vob files to NTSC/PAL/SECAM/MESECAM formats, which need you to run this as a whole program!

Any way, you can still play the DVD converted into .avi or .mpg formats on your Media player, as a soft copy.

And, no, your PSP software will not effect your comp and you can use downloaded movies to convert to PSP without any problems It's OK.

I hope this helped clear up matters for you. I'll come back again later, to see if you need any more information and help!

All the best!

Cheers!

Download Limewire by going to www.limewire.com . Then search for the movie that you are looking to download. Next you are going to access going to need to either hook your psp up to the computer or insert it into a memory card reader that is hooked up to your computer. After the movie has downloaded drag it into the proper File located inside of the folder C://PSP it should be something like C://PSP_Video . In the area of limewire where it shows that the movie has 100% completion. Hold down the left mouse key over the 100% completion sign then drag the file into the folder C://PSP_Video . Now the video file should be moved into the folder. Now you should be able to watch the videeo on your PSP. Just make sure that you have a big enugh memory card or this will not be able to work.
(get the free version of course)

You can use Magic DVD Ripper. However, you have to pay for it.

For free solution. Use DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD and then convert it to PSP format using PSP Video 9.

You need the program "PSP Express". You can downloaded off the internet for free. But then you need to upgrade it so you can rip dvds and put them into your PSP.

god you extremely opt for a psp huh? properly i'd advise you to: a million) beg your dad and mom 2) get solid grades ( my dad and mom offered me psp reason I were given no 60% in record card hehe I in a great number of cases fail ) 3) do newspaper shipping and save up funds to purchase psp yet do not thieve or carry one hundred funds costs because it will be extremely unusual for ll year previous boy carrying all that funds. solid success oh one extra element , psp is quite cool to have even though it dones't properly worth you to get in to reformatory .
