The soul is defined as the animating principal of every life form. So obviously, animals have them. The real question is whether or not their souls live beyond their bodies. I suspect that only can happen if they have a relationship with an immortal soul, such as a human one. You might say they can ride on our coattails.

Yes, I believe that animals do have a soul. They are so full of love and share that love with all of us. Wild animals, with the exception of polar bears, kill only for food.
There is an old Native American story about how when a person dies he has to cross a bridge to enter heaven. On this bridge is every animal the person crossing has met during his lifetime. The animals can then decide if the person can or can't enter heaven.
Maybe it's a story, maybe it's true.

Soul means life that a person or an animal enjoys. If you mean "Soul"survives the death of the physical body!No neither the man nor the animal has something survive and transference to something else. This is a false teaching.
Ezek.18:4:"Look! All the souls-to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son_ to me they belong. The soul that is sining_it itself will die".

I think they do. I know there are dogs who have laid on their master's grave and stayed there until they died. I think it takes a soul to even do such a thing. Humans should not be the only creatures who should have the right to being "one" with the universe. Well, except for maybe fire ants- I can't stand them. And I still consider some of my ex-boyfriends from my younger days to be souless. My dogs are much better creatures then they ever were. It does not seem fair that dirty slime balls guys should have souls while my sweet, loving dogs would not.
Maybe it is true about the Indian idea of reincarnation. You are a slime ball guy in one life, you come back as a dog in another. Maybe that is what all those dog kisses are about. "Sorry, sorry I was such a slime ball in my last life. Woof! Woof! Can I have a dog biscuit?"

My mother thought it would make us feel better to know animals had no souls and thus their deaths were not to be taken seriously. But it didn't help and when I think of some of the animals I've known, I wonder. The only really "soulful" eyes in the world belong to the dog or cat who sits on your lap or at your feet commiserating when you cry.

I would like to think they do. We humans are just different form of animals, and since we have souls, why wouldn't animals.
Though there are many humans out in the world, who have no soul!

If you've ever looked into the eyes of a pet that loves you, you can see that love. So yes, I believe animals have souls.

I fully agree with you, What would make us have a soul and not them? Because we talk and they dont? Well actually they do, they talk to each other and understand each other. I think that they have to have a soul. I know that nobody knows for sure but does anyone even know for sure if we have a soul?
