So I've researched it plenty, but has anyone on here tried to the Birth Control injection (Depo Provera) or has any opinions about it?
I'm trying to find the right birth control method for me, and I know the Pill is out because I can't even remember to take antibiotics when I'm supposed to.

So what's everyone's take on the BC injection? Suggestions? Stories? Opinions?

Thanks.

I had the Depo-Provera shot about 3 years ago. There wasn't really much time given for me to see how it really was in effectiveness. The first/last shot I got, caused me to have severe migraines. It was terrible! But, I do know a lot of people it has worked for and some who it hasn't. side effects ranging from girls having to have surgeries to get the meds out of them because their body couldnt handle it, girls gaining tons of weight, other girls like myself getting migraines..and I know of 2 girls who got pregnant on the shot..ironically both of them gave birth to twins..But like I said I also have friends who seem to love the shot..I now have gone with the IUD...which others may not like just as I disliked the shot...Hopefully I have helped some.

This is my opinion. I haven't taken birth control in a while and I will tell you why. My boys were born in 1992 and1997. I was on birth control with both my kids. It was taken correctly too. My doctor finally gave me a tubal. I have had a lot of friends that have been on the BC and some did great and some of them had high blood pressure, migraines, and the one friend that seemed to love it stopped taking the shot for whatever reason and she bleed for many weeks. I don't know why either.
My advice is research ALL the birth controls out there. I know you are looking for something you don't have to remember to take. I realize you delima but my problem with the shot is that these meds are just stuck in your system until the time has run out. It is not easy to deal with migraines for 3 months. So really think it threw and consider all the others out there too! Good luck

I think that its ok, some times the side effect of weight gain is a problem. I know that it doesn't effect everyone the same way. But if you notice that you are gaining excessive weight I would stop it, because most of the weight gain from it is hard to get rid of once you have been taking it for a long time. With me I only took 3 shots and by that time I had gained alot of weight and I stopped and it took 3 times as long to get the weight off. Everyone is different so definantly give it a try it may not be that way for you.

I am on the pill, but I have heard terrible stories of the depo shot!
Chances of weight gain are high. I've heard or bad reactions, too much hormones at once, fever, migranes, terrible acne, mood swings, stress, skin being very very dry, etc...
I wouldn't do it.
And I don't recommend it either.

Maybe consider the patch? The best thing to do is talk to your doctor about it.
And research, research, research!

I didn't like Depo at all. Headaches, weight gain, etc.

That's not your only option. The Nuva Ring is new. I've been using it about 6 months or so. It's easy to use, nothing to remember to take everyday and it doesn't interfere with your daily life.

Talk to your doctor. Your Gyno can help you tons. He/She is probably the best person to talk to. Thus they are a Medical Dr.

I dont like it .. it didnt work for me

My 2yr old daughter is the result, dont get me wrong i love her to bits and i wouldnt change the fact that i had her.

I also gained weight and got my periods, i asked the doctor about this but he said it was normal but i know everyone that i know thats been on it never got theres. Also if your on it for awhile the longer it takes to get out of your system.

Your best option is to go to your doctor and discuss what your best option will be .. i never thought i would remember to take the pill but if you dont you can fall pregnane quiet easy so you do actually remember! You could even set the alarm to remind you and that helps cause its best if you take it at the same time.

Theres also a rod you can get put in your arm that lasts for 3yrs. Saves you worrying about taking anything for awhile. It depends on when you want children if you want any at all. Though you can get it taken out at anytime you wish.

Good Luck i hope you find one that works for you!

I used it for three years. I did not have any problems with it.

I went to the doctor every three months to get the shot, and it worked just fine. In fact, I did not even have a period for over three years. How great is that!

This one is good for those who do not remember to take pills, or just do not want to deal with it.
